Zipping Lee fast building momentum for Townsville Cup

Zipping Lee is a Townsville Cup heat starter on Friday night with some nice form under her belt after an admirable fourth in the National Sprint Final at Sandown on the weekend.
The Good Odds Harada and Zipping Tayla chaser crossed the line in 29.83 seconds, just over four lengths behind winner Wrongly Accused over the 515 metre journey for Melbourne conditioner Justin Nolan.
That was after she won both her heat and the Final in the Queensland National Sprint series, saluting in 29.56 seconds in the decider.
Park Ridge trainer Jedda Cutlack was proud of her two-year-old bitch’s effort in the Group 1 feature in the Victorian capital on Saturday night.
“She normally begins a bit better. And, the way she runs home, if she led that she might’ve won,” she said.
“Obviously, it’s a tough field and it was always going to be hard. But, I’m happy with the way she chased and ran on.
“She could’ve timed it better early, but it is what it is.”
The 31-year-old confirmed Bogie Leigh Futurity champion Tempting Dash would also contest the Townsville Cup series with much depending on the box draws.
“It’s a real leader’s track, that one. It’s hit and miss and it depends on the draw,” she said.
“But, in saying that, we’ve won two with strong dogs who don’t normally begin. But, we’ll see how they trial up there.”
The top Queensland conditioner added that Zipping Lee had the ideal temperament to handle the trip north.
And, she echoed top New South Wales owner and breeder Marty Hallinan’s thoughts that she would make a good broodbitch when she retires from track duties.
“She’s a really nice bitch – even Brooke and Jamie Ennis have loved looking after her,” she said.
“Whenever we get people to handle for us, everyone loves boxing her because she’s easy.
“She can begin good, she’s strong and she’s easy at home. She should hopefully be a good broodie.
“She doesn’t really have any bad habits.”
Meanwhile, it is highly likely that 2025 Queensland Greyhound of the Year Daysea’s Rory has run his last race.
He turns four on Friday and had his last of 96 starts for 29 wins at Q2 Parklands on July 11.
