Q1 Lakeside track surface enhancement works

Racing Queensland (RQ) and the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC) remain committed to providing consistent, suitable and fair racing surfaces for greyhounds, trainers and all industry participants.

Earlier this year, a number of trial sand plots were installed on the Q Straight track to undertake controlled studies of vertical water movement through the track profile. These trials enabled assessment under conditions specific to The Q and were undertaken in conjunction with QGRC, with independent advice from sand specialist Ground Science.

Following this work, RQ intends to undertake works to the Q1 Lakeside track aimed at enhancing the performance of the sand profile and racing surface.

Planning for these works is progressing, with further information regarding the timing and any impacts on racing and trialling to be provided to industry over the coming weeks.
