Cooktown Amateur Turf Club welcomes racegoers back for the Cooktown Races on Saturday, November 7, celebrating an incredible 152 years of racing in Cooktown.

The five race program is headlined by the Cooktown Cup, with Member for Cook David Kempton MP officially kicking off the day’s events.

There’s plenty happening both on and off the track, with televised southern races and on-course bookmakers, while Fashions on the Field returns with this year’s theme, ‘Racing to the Reef’.

Following the racing, get ready for the famous Dash for Cash foot races, with cash prizes up for grabs. The celebrations will continue into the evening with live entertainment from Careless Band and the bars remaining open.

There’ll be plenty of dining options available throughout the day, with the club kitchen and food stalls operating on course. The main kitchen will close by 9pm.

The weekend gets underway on Friday, November 6, with the Calcutta at the Cooktown Bowls Club, before gates open at 10am on Saturday for the main event.

Tickets are available online and will also be available for purchase at the gate. Patrons who purchase online are asked to have their tickets ready for scanning on arrival.  (All licensed personnel are asked to present their ID at the entrance.)
