Kumbia Race Club’s legendary Flemington of the Bush returns on Tuesday, November 3, bringing Melbourne Cup Day celebrations to the South Burnett for another fantastic day of country racing.

Celebrating 56 years of racing on Melbourne Cup Day, the meeting features five local races including the 1400m Kumbia Cup and a Burnett to Beach Series Heat. As part of this year’s celebrations, the club will also welcome former jockeys back for a Past Jockey Reunion.

Across the five race program, cash prizes will also be awarded to the Champion Jockey and Champion Trainer based on points accumulated throughout the day.

Away from the racing, there’s plenty happening throughout the day. Fashions on the Field returns with the ‘Pink Me Up’ theme and cash prizes on offer, with the event also raising funds in support of local Breast Care Nurses.

Racegoers can enjoy a great selection of food and refreshments including the GDL Livestock Main Bar, Kewpie Stockfeeds Wine Bar, BBQ with fresh QCWA salads, sandwiches, scones and cakes, Batesy’s Grill, plus ice cream and barista coffee. Bookmakers will also be on course, with betting available on the metropolitan races throughout the day.

For those looking to settle in for the afternoon, ticketed undercover seating and Trackside Marquees are available, along with pre-paid grazing platters. Complimentary seating is available in the grandstand above the clubhouse or racegoers can bring along a chair and pop-up gazebo, as general seating is not guaranteed.

After the last race, stick around for the popular foot races, with cash prizes up for grabs.

Buses will operate from The Carrollee Hotel, Kingaroy. Bookings are recommended, so be sure to book early by calling 4162 1055. Camping (self-contained only) is also available for those wanting to make a stay of it.

EFTPOS will be available on raceday (no cash out) and please note, strictly no dogs are permitted.
