GENERAL
Rider replacement was made as per STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY.
At the request of the Alpha Jockey Club Committee, the start of Race 1 was delayed to allow the running of the Battle Of The Bush Final at Eagle Farm to be concluded.
Race 1: J & J SYPHER AND FAMILY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
ANACARDIUM – Blundered badly shortly after jumping and dislodged Apprentice Jockey G Semmens.Apprentice Semmens was examined by on course QAS Officers and was cleared to fulfil her remaining rides at the meeting. A post-race Veterinary examination of ANACARDIUM revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FULL OF EURO – Blundered on jumping.
MUMMIFICATION – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
NAUGHTYNODDY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow reported that the gelding travelled well early in the event but when placed under pressure NAUGHTYNODDY failed to respond to her riding. Apprentice Mankelow further added that in her opinion NAUGHTYNODDY was not suited by todays track conditions.
TRAPEZE FLYER – Laid in rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the home straight.
FIELD MASTER – Shifted in shortly after jumping.
JEROME – Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer W Baker in regards to JEROME being scratched after the advertised scratching time.
ROSEBERY TERRACE - Blundered on jumping, became unbalanced and lost ground.
After the running of this race, riders approached Stewards and raised concerns about the stability of the track surface and its safety after a number of runners in the event blundered or felt unbalanced on jumping at the start of Race 1. Stewards in consultation with all riders at the meeting reviewed the footage of the start of Race 1 before discussing the options available. Riders then discussed the matter amongst themselves and reported back to Stewards that they were prepared to continue riding.
Race 2: MEARNS HIRE - ALAN PECKETT MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BRILLIANT MELODY – Slow to Begin. Shifted out under pressure passing the 200m obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding and straighten the mare.
CROWN REACH – Began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping.
OUTBACK STEP – Raced wide throughout the event.
BITTERSWEET PLUCK – Raced wide throughout the event.
IKNOWYOU – Inclined to lay out under pressure between the 150m and 100m obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding and straighten the gelding.
LEGOLAS – Slow to Begin.
FREDDIE EDDIE – Over raced in the early stages.
Race 3: NV, EE & NW GOODWIN MEMORIAL CLASS 6 PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
PREFERRAL (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Began awkwardly. Shifted in passing 650m forcing THE SQUIRE inwards. Apprentice Jockey G Semmens was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in that she made insufficient effort to prevent ENTREPRENEURIAL from shifting in causing THE SQUIRE to shift inwards resulting in BALDASSARE being placed in restricted room and was momentarily steadied by its rider,
THE SQUIRE – Shifted out on jumping forcing WATER LAD wider which then inconvenienced DECLASSIFY. Forced inwards passing the 650m by ENTREPRENEURIAL resulting in BALDASSARE being placed in restricted room and requiring to steady.
VICI – Jumped outwards at the start. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
DECLASSIFY – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground.
FOURTH POWER – Slow to begin. Became unbalanced passing the 700m and tailed off for the remainder of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer C Rogers was advised FOURTH POWER would require a Veterinary certificate before racing or trialling again.
BALDASSARE – Momentarily steadied when placed in restricted room passing the 650m when ENTREPRENEURIAL shifted in forcing THE SQUIRE inwards. Laid in under pressure passing the 250m.
WATER LAD – Taken wider on jumping by THE SQUIRE and inconvenienced DECLASSIFY. Raced wide throughout the event.
FELONIOUS - Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 4: CLERMONT CONCRETE BELYANDO BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
OCEAN EMPEROR – Slow to begin. Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow reported that OCEAN EMPEROR didn’t travel well at any stage of the event and proved to be disappointing. Apprentice Mankelow further added that in her opinion the gelding was not suited by todays track conditions.
WRITTLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout the event. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the home straight.
HARBOUR GOLD – Raced wide throughout the event. Shifted in under pressure passing the 80m obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding and straighten the gelding.
MISTREY EMPEROR – Declared a late scratching at 12.15pm on Veterinary advice after being injured on transport enroute to the Alpha racecourse. MISTREY EMPEROR was treated by the oncourse Veterinarian. Trainer W Pugsley was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary clearance before racing or trialling again.
MUSIC AWARD - Began awkwardly.
Race 5: PAT DILLON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1700 Metres
BADGE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure passing the 150m.
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
ONOMATOPOEIA –Taken wider on the first turn when SPILL THE DIAMONDS laid out. Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
FLOP TURN RIVER – Laid in under pressure passing the 80m obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding and straighten the gelding.
SHOALWATER BAY – Shifted wider passing the 900m to obtain clear running.
SPILL THE DIAMONDS – Laid out rounding the first turn and as a result raced wide in the early stages.
TIME TO TESTIFY – Over raced in the early stages.
VICTORY BEANS – Slow to begin.
SHY REBEL – Taken wider on the first turn when SPILL THE DIAMONDS laid out. Raced wide in the early stages.
Race 6: ALPHA COMMUNITY CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1700 Metres
CAFFREY (IRE) – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
STAMPEDE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. Shifted in to obtain clear running passing the 250m momentarily inconveniencing BURDEKIN. Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
GOLDEELUCK – Slow to begin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer D Rewald was advised GOLDEELUCK would require a Veterinary certificate before racing or trialling again.
SCORCHED LAND – Blundered on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
BASARWA (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers and as a result began awkwardly.As Jockey D Evans was dual engaged on the emergency runner BURDEN which gained a start in the race, he was replaced by Apprentice Jockey N Palmer.
BURDEKIN – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 250m when STAMPEDE WARRIOR shifted in to obtain clear running.
I AM GOOD AT THIS – Over raced in the middle stages of the event. Jockey S Galvin reported that I AM GOOD AT THIS travelled well in the early stages of the event but when placed under pressure at the 600m, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and proved to be disappointing.
BURDEN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
