MR HARPER – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
SEEKING LOUIE – When questioned regarding today’s improved performance, jockey and trainer C. Rogers stated that the gelding appreciated today’s firm track and also benefitted from the removal of blinkers from the gelding’s gear. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 3: ALL WILD SEAFOOD/ARAMAC SOCIAL CLUB BENCHMARK 60 HCAP – 1200m
1ST – RHYTHM NATION 2ND – NEPTUNE EXPRESS 3RD – PIPPA’S CALL 4TH – SPINADA
PIPPA’S CALL – Apprentice G. Steele, rider of the 3rd placegetter, lodged a protest against RHYTHM NATION alleging interference in the home straight. After hearing all evidence and viewing the race footage, it was established that RHYTHM NATION shifted in in the home straight and tightened the running of PIPPA’S CALL, which had to be steadied. Taking into consideration the manner in which both horses finished off the race and the margin between them, stewards could not be satisfied that PIPPA’S CALL would have finished ahead of RHYTHM NATION. The protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. In a subsequent inquiry D. Rewald, rider of RHYTHM NATION, plead guilty to a charge of careless riding. D. Rewald’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period covering 2 western Queensland meetings, to commence at midnight 6 December 2014 and expire at midnight 20 December 2014.
