GENERAL
The following horses were declared late scratching’s by Stewards at 9.08am due to no riders being available at the meeting:
Race 4: ARMSTRONG BAY – MAYBE
Stewards approved the following overweight at today’s meeting:
Race 5: Jockey E Bell +1kg
Race 1: BARCALDINE WELDING WORKS QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
HIGHGROUND – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
ICHIBERU – Slow to begin.
SHUT IT DOWN – Underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination after not having started for an extended period and was passed suitable to start. Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Raced wide throughout the event.
FLASHMASTER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
FROTHSAY – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
IMMINENT BOOM – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight obliging its rider, Apprentice R O’Connell to straighten the gelding on a number of occasions.
Race 2: MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT CLASS 6 PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
BOLD SMUGGLER – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
INQUISITIVE LEGEND – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey S Galvin pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 12 times prior to the 100m and 14 times in total. Jockey Galvins licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 29th August 2026 and to conclude midnight 8th September 2026.
ALL TOO LUCKY – Began awkwardly. Blundered shortly after jumping and as a result lost ground. Shifted wider rounding the home turn to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3: GEORGE BOURNE & ASSOCIATES JEFF DOLGNER MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
BEL SONG – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BELLA RUSSIAN – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
FYANSFORD FLYER – Began awkwardly. Jocker R Faehr reported that FYANSFORD FLYER travelled well until the 600m but then weakened from that point and failed to respond to his riding for the remainder of the event. Jocker Faehr added that in his opinion the mare proved disappointing with her effort in today’s event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GRAPHIEN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 4: ARAMAC CUTPRICE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
FINAL COMMENT – Jockey J Rudd reported that FINAL COMMENT was held up for clear running at various stages throughout the event.
GALATH (NZ) – Weakened over the final 300m of the event.
ARMSTRONG BAY - Declared a late scratching by Stewards at 9.08am when there were no riders available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
FINAL MISSION – The mare turned her head as the start was affected and as a result was slow to begin. Shifted in passing the 550m obliging SHEZ LETHAL to steady.
SHEZ LETHAL – Slow to begin. Obliged to steady from heels passing the 550m when FINAL MISSION shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Stewards, after reviewing the available patrol footage of the incident issued Jockey J Babarovich, the rider of FINAL MISSION with a reprimand for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).
HIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MAYBE - Declared a late scratching by Stewards at 9.08am when there were no riders available at the meeting to ride the mare.
RUN FREDA RUN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
THE STONE MASON – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5: TJF MILK JOHN DOLGNER MEMORIAL CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
On returning to scale, Jockey R Faehr reported that he had made contact with a vehicle behind the barriers which was used to transport barrier staff to the starting position with his right foot and was experiencing some pain in the foot. Jockey Faehr was treated by on course QAS Officers who observed the incident and was cleared of any serious injury. Jockey Faehr was advised by the QAS Officers that if he feels that the injury becomes more painful, he should seek further medical advice.
TESTATOR SILENS – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
GREEN SHADOWS – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
CALL OUT – Bumped on jumping.
NORTHUMBRIA – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Inclined to lay out under pressure rounding the home turn.
MOORABINDA MICK – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
DIVINE COURAGE – Began awkwardly and bumped CALL OUT. As Jockey E Bell was to be overweight and there were no riders available to ride DIVINE COURAGE at the allotted weight, Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer D Rewald for Jockey Bell to ride the gelding 1kg over. Stewards issued Jockey Bell with a severe reprimanded pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
