STRICT SPEED – On returning to the saddling enclosure the gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR.53A.(4)(b) advised Trainer’s Representative Mr. S Potiris representing Mr. G Tsakissiris that the gelding would not be permitted to start in any race for a period of three months, and would be required to gallop 1000 metres to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing.
Following the running of this event Stewards inquired into an incident which took place near the 500 metres. resulting in DIPLOMATIC (K Stone) losing ground and FIVE STARS (P Cullen) clipping the heels of GEORGIE PORGIE (W D’Avila) and blundering as a result. After considering evidence from the aforementioned jockeys, as well as S Kaya who rode GIVE ME TIME, and viewing the patrol films, it was established that near the 500 metres GEORGIE PORGIE (W D’Avila) which was racing erratically shifted in tightening the running of DIPLOMATIC (K Stone). At the same point FIVE STARS (P Cullen) shifted out in an attempt to improve to the outside of GIVE ME TIME (S Kaya) which was inclined to hang out, and in doing so clipped the heels of GEORGIE PORGIE blundering and losing ground as a result. As a number of factors had contributed to the incident Stewards were of the opinion that no individual rider could be held responsible for the incident, and as such took no action other than advising jockey W D,Avila to exercise more care.
