GENERAL
As the following runners had not raced for an extended period, they underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race: Wrongfully Wrong, Snuggles, Russian Rose, Missy Lyn, Goanna Step and Sowilo Siren.
Highbar – Competed in trial – Began awkwardly causing apprentice L. Guernier to make contact with her right knee on the barrier gates.
Race 1:BEGA GROUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200M
NOBLE ATTACK – Shifted in on its own accord soon after the start bumping with NAPOLEON STRIKE which shifted in placing SIMPLY DEVINE in restricted room which was restrained and lost ground. In this incident NOBLE ATTACK became awkwardly placed at the heels of BLONDIES SECRET which shifted in when being corrected. Jockey W. D’Avila (NOBLE ATTACK) was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BLONDIE’S SECRET – Shifted in soon after the start crowding NOBLE ATTACK. Jockey C. Meehan was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Over-raced in the early stages.
SIMPLY DIVINE – Restrained when placed in restricted soon after the start and lost ground.
Race 2:WATTO'S EARTHMOVING 2025 BATTLE OF THE BUSH ATHERTON QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
JOURNALISM – Crowded near the 800 metres and was steadied. Checked soon after the winning post when tightened for room.
RECRUITER – Laid in when racing keenly passing the 800 metres crowding JOURNALISM.
SIR ROCKET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
HEARSAY – Shifted in shortly after the winning post tightening JOURNALISM which was checked. Rider A. Thomas was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
EXCITE CHOO – A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood in one nostril. EXCITE CHOO shall before racing again be required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(8)
Race 3: TOLGA HOTEL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M
IRISH MIST – Slow into stride.
SPILL THE TEARS – Raced ungenerously for a short distance after the start.
DOMINANT ROSE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
ASAMBE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 4: STEVE'S 60TH BIRTHDAY BASH! BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000M
WRONGFULLY WRONG – Took charge of its rider leaving the 500 metres and shifted out hampering runners to its outside.
RACATOON – Steadied leaving the 500 metres.
BRING ME TO LIFE (NZ)– Hampered leaving the 500 metres and forced wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RUSSIAN ROSE – Hampered leaving the 500 metres and forced wider. Lost ground near the 400 metres inconveniencing REDAVNI and GAZZA’S DIAMOND. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be sore in the near side hind leg. Connections were advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to its next trial or race start.
GAZZA’S DIAMOND – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres when RUSSIAN ROSE lost ground and shifted in brushing the inside running rail.
REDAVNI– Inconvenienced near the 400 metres when RUSSIAN ROSE lost ground.
ZORAYDAH (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5: FNQ WATER QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
GOANNA STEP– Began awkwardly. Forced wider near the 200 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
MISSY LYN – Began awkwardly.
TRUSTING STAR– Shifted in at the start bumping with WICKED RED SOCKS. Shifted out near the 200 metres forcing other runners wider.
WICKED RED SOCKS– Shifted out at the start bumping with TRUSTING STAR. Forced wider near the 200 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BEAUTIFUL LIES – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
