GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight requests:
R3: L. Guernier (RECRUITER) + 1.0 kg (Declared riding weight)
R5: L. Guernier (LOVE ON SUNDAY) + 1.0 kg (Declared riding weight)
R5: L. Morrison (BOLD FEELING) + 0.5 kg
RACE 1: COSTA CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000 METRES
YOUWANNAPEACHOFME – Was declared a late scratching at 11am when there was no rider available.
KEEPTHEWOLVESAWAY – Was declared a late scratching at 1:13 pm by order of stewards when it refused to load. Prior to declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the gelding be refunded in full and that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 20c in the dollar for the win and 18c in the dollar for place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer S. Hoffmann was advised that a further barrier certificate is required prior to its next race start.
SNUGGLES – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race and raced wide from the 800 metres.
BEAUTIFUL LIES - Shifted in on jumping and bumped with SHE’S A MISSION.
SHE’S A MISSION – Bumped on jumping and lost ground as a result.
VERY GOOD – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
RACE 2: SAVANNAH CAMPER TRAILERS QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
GUAPO – After jumping on terms raced ungenerously soon after the start and was momentarily restrained and lost ground. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 800 metres.
IMELDA MAYHEM (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
RACE 3: CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
OVERLORD – Began awkwardly and raced ungenerously for a short distance. Restrained off heels approaching the 800 metres. Shifted out rounding the home turn carrying NAPOLEON STRIKE wider. Inclined to shift wider under pressure down the running. Jockey C Meehan was advised to stop riding and correct his mount in similar circumstances. Trainer A Bailey will give consideration to implementing a gear change prior to next start.
RECRUITER – Put in an awkward stride and blundered soon after jumping.
NAPOLEON STRIKE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Carried wider when OVERLORD shifted out rounding the home turn.
CRYSTAL CHIEF – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
STRATEGIST – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
RACE 4: TOLGA HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
AGLOT – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Shifted out abruptly soon after straightening to obtain clear running. Jockey A. Thomson reported the gelding was inclined to lay out at various stages in running and became unbalanced for a short distance near the 600 metres. Trainer S. Hoffmann advised stewards that she intends to monitor AGLOT’S recovery and will advise if anything comes to her attention over the next few days. Ms. Hofmann also advised that she will give consideration to implementing a gear change prior to its next start.
BOMBINATE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 5: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL, XXXX & LIQUOR LEGENDS COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/ATHERTON CUP – 2000 METRES
ANDALUS (NZ) – Was declared a late scratching at 10:20am on vets advice due to swelling in the near front leg. Trainer T McGovern was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness is required prior to the horse trialing or racing again.
DEVIL KICK – Over raced in the early stages.
BOLD FEELING – Raced tight to the outside of LOVE ON SUNDAY over the concluding stages.
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Raced tight to the inside of BOLD FEELING over the concluding stages.
