BUBBLE TEA – On scale the rider W. D’Avila reported the mare got its tongue over the bit in the run. Tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight until corrected by its rider. Trainer A. Holmes advised stewards prior to next start he was going to make a gear change by adding a tongue tie to the mare’s racing gear.

RACE 5: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL & BUNDY RUM Open Handicap 1400 M
CRYSTAL CHIEF – Blundered badly on jumping.
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Raced wide in the early stages. Finished tailed off. Stewards questioned jockey R. Wiggins regarding the gelding’s performance today. Jockey Wiggins stated he pressured the gelding to go forward from the barriers as his instructions were to lead however it was unable to muster the speed, he again pressured LOVE ON SUNDAY near the 1100 metres to improve forward and when unable to do so elected to restrain to a position one off the fence, off the pace. He further added LOVE ON SUNDAY never travelled comfortably throughout the race and may not have appreciated the track surface today as it again failed to respond to his riding leaving the 700 metres and as such he did not pressure the horse over the concluding stages and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to find any obvious abnormalities. Stewards will question trainer A. Malliff in the coming days and ask him to advise stewards should anything come to his attention that may have had a bearing on today’s performance.
