Race 2: L. Morrison (SEVENTIES HIT) +1kg
RACE 1: HAIR BY EVA QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap - 1400 Metres
LOOK AT ROSA – Stewards noted the circumstances regarding the late scratching of the mare from today’s meeting, however on accepting the explanation by trainer B. Thomson, stewards issued a reprimand under the provisions of LR 68(1) to Ms. B Thomson for failing to scratch by the required time.
FLOURISH – Fractious in the barriers. Momentarily steadied near the1200 metres.
KEEPTHEWOLVESAWAY – Over-raced in the early stages and as a result raced three wide in the early stages. Rider Ms. L. Morrison reported on scale the handle of her whip had broken near the 200 metres.
GREY POWER – Laid out under pressure near the 200 metres.
RACE 2: DUFFY'S FURNITURE COURT OPEN Handicap - 1400 Metres
INJADA – When questioned regarding the scratching of the gelding trainer B. Bailey advised stewards the gelding had an elevated temperature and had also left feed in its feed bin and for those reasons, he had eased it up in its trackwork. After seeking further advice from veterinary surgeon Dr E. Maloney, it was decided to scratch it from today’s race. Mr. Bailey advised stewards he would advise accordingly as to the condition of the gelding over the next week. Mr. Bailey’s explanation was noted by the stewards, and he was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to INJADA trialing or its next race start.
SPIRIT MEISTER – Trainer Rodney Miller advised stewards the gelding had suffered an unknown severe allergic reaction that required veterinary treatment. The gelding was scratched on veterinary advice and will now be given a short let up to assist with recovery. Trainer R. Miller was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to SPIRIT MEISTER being permitted to trial or race again.
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Due to the gelding having raced in Brisbane the previous Saturday, it was subject to a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
SEVENTIES HIT – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.
RACE 3: BJS PLUMBING & CIVIL CONTRACTING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap - 1200 Metres
NO LOVE LOST – Stewards noted the circumstances regarding the late scratching of the gelding from today’s meeting, however on accepting the explanation by trainer B. Thomson, stewards issued a reprimand under the provisions of LR 68(1) to Ms. B Thomson for failing to scratch by the required time.
ALABAMA MOONLIGHT – Slow into stride.
YAMABUSHI – Blundered near the 300 metres on its own accord.
RACE 4: CROSS CUSTOM MEATS MAIDEN Plate - 1000 Metres
GEE UP – After interviewing trainer Ms. J. Ryan and with no other suitable rider being available, Jockey F. Edwards was permitted to ride the gelding 2.5 kg over its allotted weight. Stewards spoke with Jockey F. Edwards as to the reason for accepting the ride when unable to make the allotted weight, stewards acknowledged he was just returning after an extended time due to injury, however, he was put on notice that going forward he was not to accept any future rides whereby he could not make the allotted weight. Jockey F. Edwards was reprimanded. Fractious in the barriers and raced wide for the majority of the race.
LICHFIELD ANGEL – After sustaining an abrasion to its offside hip during transportation to the meeting today, the mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced ungenerously near the 650 metres and lost ground.
BUBBLE TEA – Fractious in the barriers. Restrained near the 650 metres off the heels of LICHFIELD ANGEL which was racing ungenerously.
MACY THE ACE – Laid on the offside gate when the start was effected and was slow to begin.
ASPEN COWBOY – Slow to begin.
HOLD THE GOLD – Near the 650 metres the offside iron strap broke placing rider R. Shred at a distinct disadvantage and shifted out inconveniencing URIS. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
URIS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 650 metres and was restrained when HOLD THE GOLD shifted out.
RACE 5: TAYLORS TREELOPPING BENCHMARK 50 Handicap - 1000 Metres
CHARGIN’ – After interviewing trainer Mr. P. Maguire and with no other suitable rider being available, Jockey F. Edwards was permitted to ride the gelding 1.0 kg over its allotted weight. Stewards spoke with Jockey F. Edwards as to the reason for accepting the ride when unable to make the allotted weight, stewards acknowledged he was returning after an extended time due to injury, however, jockey Edwards was put on notice that going forward that he was not to accept any future rides whereby he could not make the allotted weight. Jockey F. Edwards was reprimanded. Checked near the 700 metres when tightened for room by SWEET CANDY which hung in.
WRONGFULLY WRONG – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.
BUFFET BUSTER – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start, hampered when crowded for room near the 700 metres.
MUSIC GIRL – Brushed by SWEET CANDY at the 700 metres and then laid in despite the efforts of its rider, crowding SWEET CANDY.
SWEET CANDY – Shifted out and brushed with MUSIC GIRL near the 700 metres and then hung in, and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider tightening the running of
CHARGIN’ which was checked. Jockey/Trainer Ms. R. Shred was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near hind leg consistent with being galloped on. Ms. Shred was advised she must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to SWEET CANDY racing or trialing again.
RISING RUBY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
