RACE 1: TOLGA HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1400 M
 
POWER CHIC – Stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground, finishing tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to be lame in the near side foreleg. Co-Trainers Trever and Peter Rowe were advised a veterinary certificate of soundness is required prior to the filly’s next start or trial, and further they were also advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
 
ON THE QUIET – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
GUAPO – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
CHARM TELLER – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
 
CHANCE – Put in an awkward stride on entering the straight and dipped.
 
RACE 2: MCMAHONS BETTA HOME LIVING QTIS CLASS 3 Handicap 1200 M
 
TIPPED OFF – Slow to begin.
 
HELL OFA TRIP – Slow into stride.
 
SHADYVALE AL – Slow into stride.
 
SWEET CANDY – Shifted out at the start and bumped GREY POWER.
 
GREY POWER – Bumped on jumping by SWEET CANDY who shifted out.
 
LOLLIES – Shifted wider leaving the 700 metres and raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
RACE 3: COWGIRL COUNTRY MAIDEN Plate 1100 M
 
SAPPHIRE QUEEN – Delayed the start after refusing to load, was very fractious once in the barriers and declared a late scratching at 2.35 pm by order stewards acting on the starter’s advice.  On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SAPPHIRE QUEEN were ordered to be fully refunded, with the following deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and the second placegetters prior to 2.35pm.
 
39 cents in the dollar for the win (FOR ADELINE).  
32 cents in the dollar for the place of winner (FOR ADELINE).  
32 cents in the dollar for 2nd place (GRIGIA).
 
Trainer A. MALLIFF was advised the mare was now required to pass two consecutive barrier certificates prior to its next race start.  
 
TASTE THE STEEL – As the gelding had not started for an extended period of time, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Attempted to buck shortly after the start for some distance and refused to take a competitive part early in the race. Jockey Ms K. Swaffer reported to stewards that her saddle had also moved back as a result and she did not fully test the horse over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding was undertaken which revealed it to be lame in the near side foreleg. Co-Trainers Trevor and Peter Rowe were advised the a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to it trialing and further that TASTE THE STEEL is also required to pass a trial prior to racing again.
 
TRUSTING STAR – Connections advised stewards the gelding was to be ridden in a more forward position and lead if possible. The gelding failed to muster enough early-pace to be ridden to those instructions.
 
FOR ADELINE – Delayed the start for a considerable time when proving difficult to load. Trainer L Terzi was advised the filly was now required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to any future start.
 
RACE 4: BEGA GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1000 M
 
SILVERTURN – Declared at late scratching at 7.54 am on veterinary advice due to soreness to the nearside front and rear leg. Trainer N. Homann was advised the mare would now require a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to racing or trialing again.
 
DESARAE DOLL – The mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Laid out badly after entering the home straight and finished near the outside rail of the track. A pre-race veterinary examination on the mare revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
FAKE – Sustained a small laceration to its off-side fore fetlock during the race.
 
POWER PUFF – Jockey S. Kaya pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) in that near the 700 metres he permitted POWER PUFF to shift in when not fully clear of MR DAMGE which was checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey Kaya’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 25th July 2026 and expire midnight 2nd August 2026. Jockey Kaya was advised of his right of appeal against the steward’s decision.   
 
MR DAMAGE – Had to be checked near the 700 metres when POWER PUFF shifted in when insufficiently clear and took its rightful running.
 
RACE 5: SERRA DRILLING OPEN Handicap 1000 M
 
WRITE YOUR OWN (NZ) – Declared at late scratching at 9.54 am due to lameness in the off-foreleg.Trainer S. Hoffman was advised the gelding would now require a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to racing or trialing again.
 
BLOOMIN’ RIPPER – Slow to begin.
 
RUBY CHICKS – Trainer T. Rowe reported that following the race and returning to the tie-up stalls the mare was found to have the presence of blood in both nostrils. Trainer T. Rowe was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), RUBY CHICKS shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. Trainer T. Rowe advised it was his intention to now retire the mare.
 
RED BOOMSHAKALAKA – Wide for the majority of the race.
