SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

ATHERTON TURF CLUB - SATURDAY 25th JULY 2026

RACE 3: COWGIRL COUNTRY MAIDEN Plate 1100 Metres.

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into a complaint regarding the actions of a barrier attendant during the attempted loading of FOR ADELINE.
After considering evidence from the barrier attendant, Acting Chairman of Stewards Mr S. Copelin, official starter Mr B. Coad, Ms R. Shred the rider of FOR ADELINE, together with all available footage, it was determined that FOR ADELINE proved fractious during the loading process. In an attempt to straighten the mare, a barrier attendant struck FOR ADELINE near the girth region with an open hand on four occasions. Stewards determined that the loading practices adopted by the barrier attendant fell below the requisite animal welfare standard.
The Atherton Turf Club has been directed that the barrier attendant is not to be utilised in that capacity going forward. Further training for barrier staff and the official starter will be delivered in consultation with the Racing Queensland Chief Starter.

Race 1, Ms. L Guernier (SING SING BABY) – + 0.50 Kg - To her allotted riding weight.
Race 1, Masayuki Abe (BANK INTEREST) – + 0.50 Kg.
Race 6, Masayuki Abe (MEDAL) – + 0.50 Kg.

RACE 1: TOLGA HOTEL CLASS B Handicap 1000 Metres.

BANK INTEREST – Stewards reprimanded Trainer R. Ludwig for failing to request a weight declaration of 0.50kg for the jockey by the required time prior to the close of jockey declarations. Shifted in on jumping tightening runners to its inside.

LOUIS AUGUSTE – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside. Jockey B. Kennedy advised stewards the horse resented the kickback and failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Co-Trainer P. Rowe advised stewards that consideration would be given to the gelding being retired from racing.

RED FALCON – Tightened for room on jumping.

SILVERTURN – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room by BANK INTEREST which shifted inwards on jumping. Forced wider rounding the home turn.

SING SING BABY – Slow to begin and was then tightened for room between RED FALCON and LOUIS AUGUSTE which began awkwardly and shifted out. On returning to scale App. L. Guernier advised stewards her mount received a heavy bump shortly after the start and felt it was stepping short in its off foreleg. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have superficial wounds to its offside hind leg and offside front leg.

MAJESTIC CHOICE – Slow into stride.

VERBALIZE – Raced three wide with cover. Shied on pulling up dislodging jockey Ms. T. Chambers. Ms. Chambers was quickly attended to by the on course QAS officers and after complaining of neck soreness was transported to the Atherton hospital for further observation. As Jockey Ms. T. Chambers was indisposed and unable to weigh in stewards declared correct weight under the provisions of AR 210(2) after being comfortably satisfied that VERBALIZE had carried its correct weight. Ms. Chambers was replaced for her remaining rides as per steward’s summary. Ms. Chambers must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.

MOHAWK WARRIOR – Raced three wide without cover.

RACE 2: CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE BRACELET BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 Metres.

The start of this race was considerably delayed due to the incident from race 1.

MCLOVIN – Prior to being loaded the gelding became fractious and slipped over dislodging jockey A. Holt. Jockey A. Holt appeared to be harmlessly dislodged and declared himself free of any injury and fulfilled his riding engagement for this race and the remainder of the program. A veterinary examination of MCLOVIN was undertaken on the gelding and was passed fit to race. Trainer Ms. S Hoffman was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages.

BELLZEN – Slow to begin.

CLUEDO – After being slow to begin was then inconvenienced by GAMADALE NIP which shifted out at the start.

TSUKINO – Laid in approximately 50 metres after the start and clipped the heels of BELLA BIANCA which shifted out marginally and blundered.

SUPERSTITIONS – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted in when improving forward near the 750 metres tightening the running of GAMADALE NIP which was restrained. Jockey M. Abe was severely reprimanded and advised to show much greater care when shifting ground.

GAMADALE NIP – Shifted out at the start inconveniencing CLUEDO which slow to begin. Restrained approaching the 750 metres when tightened for room by SUPERSTITIONS which shifted in when improving forward. Raced wide in the middle stages.

IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Slow to begin.

RED BOOMSHAKALAKA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RACE 3: LOCAL BOOKIES QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap 1200 Metres.

EVITA LASS – As jockey Ms. T. Chambers was indisposed, she was replaced by jockey Ms. R. Shred. Slow to begin and shifted out after the start and brushed with MISSY LYN for a short distance.

MISSY LYN – Slow to begin and shifted in after the start and brushed with EVITA LASS for a short distance.

MAGIC SUNNY DAY – Shifted in near the 800 metres when not fully clear of SECRET SUSPICION causing that runner to be steadied. Jockey M. Abe was reprimanded and reminded to ensure there was sufficient room when shifting ground.

SECRET SUSPICION – Steadied near the 800 metres from the heels of MAGIC SUNNY DAY which shifted in.

SHE’S GOT LYRICS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RACE 4: SAVANNAH CAMPER TRAILERS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1400 Metres.

CRIMSON SPIRIT – Dwelt at the start and lost considerable ground. On returning to scale Jockey S. Kaya reported the mare resented the cross-over nose band throughout the race. Co-Trainer Peter Rowe advised stewards it is now his intention to remove the cross-over nose band prior to the mare’s next start.

EYELEFTIT – Slow to begin.

GERALDINE’S WISH – Over-raced in the middle stages for a short distance.

BOMBINATE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BUBBLE TEA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RACE 5: COSTA WELL GROWN COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1400 Metres.

INCHING CLOSER – As jockey Ms. T Chambers was indisposed, she was replaced by jockey B. Kennedy.

RAETIHI – After proving reluctant to proceed to the barrier’s stewards granted permission for the gelding to race without the tongue tie. This was relayed via the race caller broadcast. Raced wide in the early stages until improving forward to race outside the leader leaving the 800 metres.

VINCENZO – Slow to begin.

THE EXTREME CAT – Slow to begin.

ELLA TE AMA – Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the race.

RACE 6: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL, XXXX & LIQUOR LEGENDS ATHERTON CUP OPEN Handicap 2030 Metres.

MEDAL – Stewards reprimanded Trainer S. BUSH for failing to request a weight declaration of 0.50kg for the jockey by the required time prior to the close of jockey declarations. Jockey M. Abe was fined the sum of $100 in that he mistakenly sent number nine saddle cloth out with his saddle instead of number 6. Trainer S. Bush was fined $100 for presenting MEDAL with the incorrect saddle cloth.

AMALFI AMORE – Began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping heavily with EMPIRE OF ART on the off-fore shoulder and as a result shifted that gelding wider and lost ground.

EMPIRE OF ART – Inconvenienced at the start and bumped heavily being forced wider when AMALFI AMORE began awkwardly and bumped its off-fore shoulder and as result lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

HURRICANE ROSIE – Over-raced in the early stages.

HOPEFUL – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

SIGIRIYA ROCK – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

THE DRILLER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial lacerations to the offside hind leg.
