GENERAL
 
RACE 1: AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY CHOICE & AUGATHELLA RURAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M
 
KAT CHINNA- Lost near side rear plate in transit. Jky M Gray was fined $500 under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 12 in totality, Stewards noted Jky M Gray’s excellent record in relation to the rule and his forthright evidence when determining penalty.
 
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON- Began awkwardly jumping out.
 
PERIGEAN- Began awkwardly. Bumped with CHIEF MONDO shortly after the start was affected.
 
POCKET PICKER- Rider Appr Jky M Mankelow reported that she was happy with the gelding’s performance but felt he wasn’t comfortable in the racing conditions today. Her comments were noted.
 
PHONDLE- Advised by Trainer Ms M Hill that the mare was displaying signs of colic and would be a scratching at today’s meeting. Ms Hill was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. The horse was scratched at 6.55am.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE- Began awkwardly. Due to the gelding racing at Barcaldine on the 4/4/2026 a pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken this examination this examination resulted in the horse being fit to start. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority. Laid in while racing in the home straight. Jky M Heagney was questioned by stewards regarding the geldings seemingly disappointing performance, he advised that after beginning okay he failed to respond to the rider when urged to improve. Stewards noted his comments.
 
CHIEF MONDO- Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier gates on jumping, then bumped with another runner to the outside as the start was affected. Laid in for some distance during the early stages before being corrected by the rider.
 
RACE 2: VINCE & CHARLIE MCKELLAR/ ARTHUR COOK MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M
 
BUTWEDID- Slow to begin and then raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
HORNNIC- Bumped with another runner after the start.
 
DAZZINGTON- Began awkwardly and shifted in as the start was affected.
 
KABUKICHO- Stewards accepted Trainer Mr W Baker’s explanation for his late declaration of a rider on the horse and took no further action in relation to this matter. Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer Mr W Baker advised Stewards that the mare had bled from one nostril post-race. Stewards acting under the provision of AR78 ordered the horse to undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Mr Baker was advised.
 
KANTAI- After beginning okay drifted back from the 950m point and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
HINOKI WOOD- As the start was affected began awkward and then shifted outward abruptly bumping HORNIC with HINOKI WOOD becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75 placed a Warning on the horse for its barrier manners.
 
RACE 3: EXCAVATION EQUIPMENT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1300M
 
LONHANOVA- Was forced to race in a five wide position without cover during the early stages of the event.
 
TRIBESMAN- Began awkwardly.
 
TSAR JOKER- Slow into stride, raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Jky R Tilley reported the horse failed to respond to his riding despite his best efforts at any stage during the race. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered but failed to detect any abnormalities. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75 placed a Warning on the horse for a poor performance, Trainer Ms C Baker was advised.
 
NAORO- Due to the mare racing at Barcaldine on 4/4/2026, a pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken. This examination resulted in the horse being passed fit to start. Jky R Faehr was fined the sum of $500 by Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 12 strikes in totality. Stewards noted Jky Faehr forthright evidence, remorse and his excellent record in relation to the rule.
 
TAMIEKA WARRIOR- Appr Jky K Barker was fined the sum of $500 by Stewards while acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii)  for her use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 12 in totality. In determining penalty Stewards noted it was Appr Jky Barker’s first breach of this rule.
 
RACE 4: LYN & JACK CARMICHAEL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1300M
 
NASSAU COUNTY- Began awkwardly and bumped with BLOOMIN’ GOLD after the start was affected.
 
VERY GRATEFUL- After beginning awkwardly bumped with FRENCH EMPIRE at the start.
 
FRENCH EMPIRE- Bumped with another runner at the start.
 
OAKFIELD TARGET- Was lame after the gelding’s run at Roma on the 4th March 2026 and was scratched by order Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 6.40am. Betting was not affected.
 
SUISSE SCANDAL- Stewards accepted Trainer Ms G Doig’s explanation for the late declaration of a rider on her horse. No further action was taken. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BLOOMIN’ GOLD- Bumped with another runner at the start and then drifted back in the field from the 1200m then raced wide for the majority.
 
INTOXICATION- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority before improving into the race from the 400m, ran on well over the final stages.
 
RACE 5: SHERIDAN DELFORCE TRANSPORT MEATANT CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1300M
 
HERE HE LOOMS- Held up for some distance from the 1200m point.
 
LEGOLAS- Ran on strongly over the final stages of the race.
 
LIP SIP SUK- Raced mid field for the majority, improved into the race from the 400m and ran on strongly over the concluding stages.
 
BORN FEARLESS- Over raced during the early stages with Jky M Gray having difficulty in restraining the gelding.
 
DIVINE COURAGE- Began awkwardly.
 
START STRUTTING- Began awkwardly, tended to lay in during the early stages and raced wide for the majority of the event.
