Upon review of the start, it was determined that as the start was effected OCEAN EMPEROR contacted the outside barrier partition with its nasal area and forced that side of barrier open marginally faster than the inside partition. The start of this race was originally delayed due to the stirrup irons on the saddle of SMASHING ROSIE having to be refitted. The start was further delayed when the starter advised that he had inadvertently placed a runner in the incorrect barrier which resulted in some runners having to be removed from their barrier and being reloaded into their correct barrier.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards identified that the barrier of BETTA THAN PRESLEY (4) had opened marginally slower than all other barriers. Considering that BETTA THAN PRESLEY had been placed 3rd by the judge and considering the provisions of AR204, correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
