RACE 1: MCHUGH STEEL CLASS B HANDICAP - 850m

Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer M. Reardon for the late nomination of a jockey for SCRATCHY at today’s meeting.

The start of this event was delayed when KOOL HEAVEN was kicked in the parade ring. A pre race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and passed the gelding fit to start.

EMPRESS AYLEAH – Knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.

KOOL HEAVEN – Laid out under pressure over from the 150m.

YOU’LL HAVE TO – Rider reported that the gelding resented the kickback.

Following further rain before and during the running of this event, stewards and a delegation of senior riders walked the track. Riders expressed concerns over the deteriorating track conditions and surface water which was present between the 700m - 500m. Stewards agreed with the concerns raised by the riders and subsequently abandoned the remainder of the race meeting at 2:30pm.
