RACE 1: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1380 Metres

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow D McIntosh rider of second placegetter WAY UP THERE to view the patrol DVD in regards to an incident in the home straight. Subsequently D McIntosh lodged a protest against first past the post REDWIN alleging interference inside the 100 metres. Stewards found at that point of the race REDWIN shifted out marginally under pressure and brushed WAY UP THERE, however taking account where the incident took place, the manner in each horse finished off the race and extent of inconvenience suffered by WAY UP THERE, the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared.

EPIC MISS – rider A Badger was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift out rounding the 800 metre turn and hampering another runner. When questioned regarding the below market performance rider stated the mare settled back in the field as per usual racing pattern, however when placed under pressure leaving the 400 metres did not respond to her riding and in her opinion was disappointing. A post race Vet examination of EPIC MISS failed to reveal any abnormality.

REDWIN – inside 100 metres shifted ground outwards under pressure. App J Hodge advised to stop riding and straighten under similar circumstances.

WAY UP THERE – brushed by another runner inside 100 metres.

HARADA PEARL – hampered and taken wider on track leaving the 800 metres.




RACE 2: CLASS B HDCP 1090 Metres

CLIFFORD – fractious in barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of race. When questioned regarding performance trainer G Richardson could offer no explanation other than it was the geldings fourth start in 4 weeks and may not have backed up in today’s event, and gave an undertaking to advise stewards of any condition that may come to light in the coming days.

SCRATCHY – rider S Bayliss stated travelled well in the run until the 300 metres, but when placed under pressure failed to run on and was in his opinion disappointing.

KROSS REFERENCE – raced wide throughout the event.

TEN TO LIFE – raced wide in the early stages of the event.

DASHING YOUNG LOVE – start of this event was delayed when saddle needed to be adjusted behind the barriers.






RACE 3: MAIDEN PLATE 1212 Metres


BALKANS CLANG – began awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

NOSTIC – which was having it’s first race start and proved difficult to load, delayed start and a warning issued. Began awkwardly, raced greenly and a short distance later near 1000 metres shifted in despite the efforts of the rider hampering runners to the inside.

APPLE TREE CREEK – approaching 1000 metres was hampered when tightened by another runner which shifted in.

INFINITE MISS – slow to begin and raced wide rounding the home turn.

VICTORIA’S AMULET – was difficult to load, delayed start and warning issued.

METALLIC POINT – cast near fore plate in running.







RACE 4: BENCHMARK 70 HDCP 1212 Metres

JAM TIN – blundered away on jumping and then raced wide for majority of race.

JEB’S BOY – when attempting to pull whip through from right hand to left hand near 300 metres, App J Hodge dropped near side rein resulting in him becoming unbalanced and unable to ride his mount out for some distance until a point inside 200 metres. App Hodge was advised this incident will be referred to the attention of the RQ riding review panel to further assist him in regards to this aspect of his riding.


RACE 5: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 850 Metres

BEFORE THE STORM – which was having its race start in over 2 years, underwent a pre-race Vet examination and cleared to start. Raced wide throughout the event.

FRAHA –raced wide for majority of race and rounding the home turn hung out.

TROPICAL HEATWAVE – began awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

LEAPS AND BOUNDS – jumped inwards at the start and contacted another runner.

NORTHERN SHIFT – bumped and inconvenienced shortly after the start. Hung inwards rounding the home turn.

KIARA QUEEN – jumped outwards at the start and contacted another runner.

HEZA BIT HISSY – raced wide throughout event.

PURE CHARM – shortly after the start shifted out and bumped another runner.
