DAUNTING PRINCESS – Jockey A Spinks was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

Race 3: BOB GALLAGHER MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1090 METRES

Stewards inquired into the circumstances where jockey G Steele failed to weigh in following the running of the race after ridding AWESOME SPIRIT which placed fifth. Jockey G Steele pleaded guilty to a charge under AR210(1) for failing to weigh in when required to do so. Ms Steele was fined $200. In assessing penalty stewards considered her guilty plea, good record of more than 10 years and the relative finishing position of her mount. When considering whether AWESOME SPIRIT should maintain its position in the field under AR210(2) stewards were mindful that under the circumstances there was no impact to betting or prize money and therefore, allowed AWESOME SPIRIT to maintain its finishing position.

CALICO COUNTY – Very slow to begin.
