RACE 1: CABINET CONNECTIONS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (850m)
FLYING RUPERT – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
REVVED UP READY – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with IGBO shortly after the start.
NINE CIGARS – Raced wide throughout.
LEVAR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
IGBO – Bumped with REVVED UP READY shortly after the start. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K Gates stated that she could offer no explanation for the seemingly poor performance. Jockey Gates added that IGBO travelled well in the early stages, however when asked for an effort upon straightening, the gelding failed to respond and went to the line in a disappointing manner.
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Raced wide throughout. Had to shift wider on the track entering the home straight to obtain clear racing room.
RACE 2: JRZ HOMES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1090m)
FLAWLESS AMBITION – Blundered on jumping.
WOOLMAR – Slow into stride. Heavily bumped by GOLD STARS which stepped outwards abruptly near the 1000m. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
GOLD STARS – Slow to begin. Stepped outwards abruptly and bumped WOOLMAR heavily near the 1000m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
EL QUINTO – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K Gates stated that she could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, adding that EL QUINTO may not have handled racing for the first time on a sand track surface. Trainer C Geran concurred with the comments of jockey Gates in that EL QUINTO did not handle the sand track conditions, however would be looking into the immediate racing future of the mare within his stable.
JUDY JETSON – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, Trainer T Thomas stated that during its last start at Gympie on the 14th June, he was disappointed on its overall performance that day. Trainer Thomas further added that JUDY JETSON had been working well in the lead up to today and with the addition of the drop back in distance, he was expecting the forward showing.
MAGIC VALOUR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards.
RACE 3: JR PLUMBING AND GAS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1090m)
GOLDEN REVOLUTION – Bumped on jumping by JELLISHOT which shifted inwards. Raced wide throughout.
PABALLO – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
OUR DRUMMER – Raced wide throughout.
FRODASH – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
DAUNTING INSTINCT – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
BITTERGREYMAGIC – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Jockey H Phillips pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 16 times in total. Jockey Phillips’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 21st June 2025 and to conclude midnight 30th June 2025. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
JELLISHOT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards, bumping GOLD REVOLUTION. Raced wide throughout.
CLAUDIUS – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang inwards in the home straight.
RACE 4: T&S METAL WORKS OPEN PLATE (1380m)
GRAND DE LAGO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N Summers reported post-race to stewards that she had chipped a tooth during the running of the race.
HEAT – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance in comparison to most recent starts, trainer D Gardiner advised that HEAT tends to be more competitive when racing on sand tracks, and after the gelding did not have much luck in the run during its last start at Gladstone, he was expecting a more forward showing in today’s event.
MOORABINDA MICK – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Upon returning to scale, apprentice P Carter reported that MOORABINDA MICK did not handle the sand track conditions today.
TAKE THE LEAD – Raced wide in the early stages. When asked for a comment on the seemingly improved performance in comparison to recent starts, trainer K Sinclair stated that TAKE THE LEAD had been requiring the fitness from recent starts. Trainer Sinclair also stated that he had recently adjusted the gelding’s feed regime. Jockey M Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 13 times in total. Jockey Butler’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 26th June 2025 and to conclude midnight 4th July 2025. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
NEVER GIVE UP – Jumped away awkwardly.
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 5: ERIKA ENTZ BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1380m)
JUST BINGO – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards, bumping RAPID DUDE. Laid in when placed under pressure. Upon returning to scale, apprentice J Busuttin stated that after bumping with another runner shortly after the start, she became unbalanced for a number of strides.
WAR TOO ALL – Raced wide throughout.
NATIVE BEE – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M Kennedy stated that NATIVE BEE raced flat throughout and may not have handled the quick back up in consecutive weeks. Trainer D Rideout advised that NATIVE BEE would be sent for a freshen up.
MOISSANITE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RAPID DUDE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M Butler stated that SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR failed to travel at any stage during the event and did not handle the sand track conditions. Trainer C Geran concurred with jockey Butler’s comments.
