GENERAL

As jockey Kelly Gates was unable to attend today’s meeting due to personal circumstances, rider replacements were made as per the steward’s race day summary.

The Kale Sinclair trained runner TAKE THE LEAD was declared a late scratching at 1:34pm by the order of stewards. Furthermore, both HOLY CROWN and HOT SUMMER were declared late scratchings at 2:04pm by order of stewards when becoming aware that trainer Kale Sinclair was unable to attend today’s meeting due to personal reasons.

RACE 1: HAHN SUPER DRY 3.5 QTIS Maiden Plate (1212 Metres)

PANTHER POWER – Trainer Belinda Mair advised that connections would be considering the immediate racing future of PANTHER POWER within her stable, indicating that the gelding will most likely be retired.

WOOLMAR – Jumped away awkwardly.

UNION DELEGATE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and commenced to give ground from the remainder of the field, taking no competitive part in the event. Jockey Chris Taylor reported that UNION DELEGATE failed to travel at any stage during the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

DIAMOND CODE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed superficial wounds to its forelegs (speedy cuts).

DREAMDROP – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

POWER MAIDEN – Was reluctant to load.

RACE 2: JAMES SQUIRE OPEN Handicap (1090 Metres)

HEAT – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CORKSCREW (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

HURRICANE HALL – Slow into stride. Apprentice Amie Meissner, when questioned regarding the gelding’s performance, stated that HURRICANE HALL failed to travel throughout the event and may not have handled the track conditions.

TAKE THE LEAD – Declared a late scratching at 1:34pm by order of stewards.

RACE 3: XXXX GOLD BURNETT TO THE BEACH SERIES – HEAT – BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1090 Metres)

SCARLETT THUNDER – Bumped by DENMAN AVENUE shortly after the start and as a result lost ground. Elected to shift wider on the track at a point near the 450m in an attempt to improve.

MIMMY’S SECRET – Bumped with REEBAR on jumping.

SMACKEROONY – Raced wide in the early stages.

JUDY JETSON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its hind-leg, consistent with being galloped on.

NINE CIGARS – Raced wide throughout. Laid outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

REEBAR – Bumped with MIMMY’S SECRET on jumping. Near the 950m, had to ease to avoid the heels of JUDY JETSON when that runner slowed and reduced its speed after obtaining the lead position, resulting in REEBAR losing ground. Apprentice Amie Meissner was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(d) for reducing the speed of her horse and in doing so caused direct interference to another runner.

HOLY CROWN – Was declared a late scratching at 2:04pm by order of stewards.

DENMAN AVENUE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards, then shifted outwards shortly after the start, bumping SCARLETT THUNDER.

RACE 4: KIRIN HYOKETSU RATINGS BAND 0-50 Handicap (850 Metres)

DINOSPHERE – Heavily bumped by BRAIDWOOD QUEEN on jumping, lost ground and as a result raced in restricted room for some distance thereafter. Resented the kickback throughout the event. Jockey Minonette Kennedy stated that after receiving the bump shortly after the start, DINOSPHERE failed to race comfortably at any stage during the event.

KING OF THE VIBE – Jockey Chris Taylor reported that KING OF THE VIBE did not appreciate the use of the whip in the home straight, therefore he elected to ride out hands and heels over the final stages.

POWERALONG – Raced wide throughout.

LOVE MY LOUIS – Bounded on jumping. Raced wide throughout.

BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Shifted outwards on jumping, heavily bumping DINOSPHERE. Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. Apprentice Stephanie Tierney pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 17 times in totality. Apprentice Tierney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, with the suspension commencing midnight 13th December 2025 and to conclude midnight 21st December 2025. In determining penalty, stewards considered the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.

THE STORM – Slow to begin. Jockey Adam Spinks stated that THE STORM failed to travel throughout the event and may not have handled today’s sand track conditions.

RACE 5: XXXX ULTRA ZERO CARB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1380 Metres)

Correct weight was delayed allowing apprentice Amie Meissner, the rider of second placegetter HUMBLE HERO, and trainer Darcy Short to view the stewards patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against the winner SHUBMAN. After viewing the replays, apprentice Meissner and trainer Short elected to not proceed with a protest, therefore correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

DAUNTING INSTINCT – Jumped away awkwardly.

HOT SUMMER – Was declared a late scratching at 2:04pm by order of stewards.
