Race 1: QPSIG MAIDEN H’CAP - 1200M
IN BEIJING – Rider M. Hellyer reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout and would take benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BRILLIANT SUNSET – Bumped by another runner on a number of occasions near the 400m.
ELIZA BELLE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
ZANY LASS – Held up rounding the home turn.
HARSIESE – Slow to begin.
ANGEL OF LIBERTY – Placed in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 100m and then had to be steadied from the heels of ZANY LASS, which shifted out. S. Drake (ZANY LASS) was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
DE MELKA – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start. Had to be steadied near the 1100m when ANGEL OF LIBERTY shifted in. Shifted out near the 400m and bumped another runner on a number of occasions.
RUMOUR HAZIT – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.
Race 2: LAUREN BRUCE MEMORIAL QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1400M
The start of this race was delayed to allow an interstate race to be completed.
MARINE ON PARADE – Had to be checked when tightened for room by DARK NAZAR (K. Stanley) near the 300m. Apprentice K. Stanley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MARINE ON PARADE, resulting in that runner having to be checked. Apprentice Stanley’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Monday 5 May and expire at midnight on Saturday 16 May 2015.
SWANS LAGOON – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
EMMADEE – Slow to begin and then tailed the field for the remainder of the event and took no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abscess under the jaw. Trainer T. Webb was advised that the horse will require veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
SHEZA HOTTI – Had to be steadied near the 1100m.
Race 3: BEAUDESERT RURAL SUPPLIES/PRYDES CLASS 3 PLATE - 1400M
After viewing the stewards’ patrol film, apprentice L. Dittman, the rider of SHOW HARMONY, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against FORELOCK being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, stewards found that although FORELOCK did shift ground inwards over the concluding stages and that SHOW HARMONY also shifted in, no contact was made between the runners and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
EXPLODED – Tightened for room near the 900m.
SHOW HARMONY – Had to be steadied when overracing near the 1100m when crowded for room by ONLINES, which shifted in, and near the 900m was again placed in restricted room and shifted in, tightening the running of EXPLODED. Jockey R. Fradd (ONLINES) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
CHILLI BEACH – Had to be steadied near the 400m.
LOOK AT ANYTHING – Bumped heavily near the 400m and became unbalanced.
ONLINES – Shifted in when weakening near the 400m and made heavy contact with another runner. As a result of being uncompetitive, ONLINES will be ineligible to compete at TAB meetings until its country form improves.
FORELOCK – Rider M. Hellyer reported to stewards that it was not is intention to settle as far back in the field as he did, however the mare failed to muster any early speed and as a result he settled further back than he anticipated.
Race 4: TRADE ALLIANCE CLASS 1 H’CAP -1300M
SECRET TRYST – Slow into stride.
BADGER’S DRIFT – Faltered near the 400m and was eased out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had bowed the off fore tendon. Trainer L. Ross indicated that BADGER’S DRIFT will now be retired.
CUBAN GAL – Slow to begin.
CHEEKYBOI – Raced ungenerously and pulled hard in the early and middle stages and then had to be restrained from heels near the 600m.
FLYING TIGER – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
Race 5: DIGGER’S CUP RATINGS BAND 0-62 H’CAP - 1650M
HARNILIAM – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
GAS BURNER – Had to be checked near the 1200m.
CUBAN – Slow to begin.
MR LIGHTNING – Inconvenienced leaving the 200m when ARTISTIC CHOICE shifted out. Apprentice K. Stanley, the rider of ARTISTIC CHOICE, was advised to exercise more care.
ARTISTIC CHOICE – Commenced to hang out near the 1200m. A warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners.
Race 6: BARRIER REEF COUNTRY QUEENSLAND SHOWCASE BM75 H’CAP - 1200M
BARON DOURO – Slow to begin.
NO WIN NO WINE – Slow to begin.
TORERO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Race 7: BEAUDESERT RURAL SUPPLIES/KELATO CLASS 2 H’CAP - 1100M
SUNFAST was declared a late scratching at 12.50 p.m. for veterinary reasons.
DUSTY – Connections advised that the instructions would be to ride the mare off the speed. The horse was ridden accordingly
HAMMERSMITH – Raced three wide throughout.
DIAGNOSE – Slow to begin.
JERROCITY – Slow to begin.
