SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Gold Coast 1 August 2015 – Race 7: V. Johnston, the rider of DUNRUNIN, was fined $100 for using the whip in a forehand manner in excess of the 5 permitted occasions prior to the 100m.
GENERAL
As A. Taylor was ill and apprentice L. Dittman was currently under suspension, riding replacements were made as per the stewards’ race day summary.
As J. Lloyd was stood down by the paramedics, riding replacements were made as per the stewards’ race day summary. Jockey Lloyd was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
Race 1: QPS INVESTMENT GROUP MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
GLAMORGAN BOY – Raced wide throughout.
GREEN STYLE – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Duryea was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
LISTANERA – Stewards questioned trainer J. Crompton regarding the horse’s improved performance. She stated that the gelding had benefited from the experience of its only start, which she attributed to today’s performance.
LAKOUDIS – Raced wide throughout.
MAJESTIC SHADOW – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
EXCEED WITH SPEED – Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at heels near the 600m.
FOXY SAINT – Hampered on jumping away.
Race 2: XXXX QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
As apprentice L. Dittman was currently under suspension, P. Hammersley was substituted as the rider of GOOD TO BE GREAT.
HIGH COST - Tightened for room shortly after the start when racing in restricted room and had to be checked when LET’S CHILL’EM shifted in when not fully clear. J. Lloyd, the rider of LET’S CHILL’EM was reprimanded. Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that the colt overraced throughout the event and also raced wide throughout.
MISS SONIC BOOM – Late scratching at 8.00 am for veterinary reasons
STITCHEN TIME – Began awkwardly. Tightened for room shortly after the start when racing in restricted room and had to be checked when LET’S CHILL’EM shifted in when not fully clear. J. Lloyd, the rider of LET’S CHILL’EM was reprimanded. Stewards afforded apprentice B. Grylls the opportunity to comment on the horse’s performance. She stated that after being tightened for room shortly after the start the filly settled further back than she anticipated. She added that the usual racing pattern of the filly is to lead and the horse races best when able to dictate out in front, however she was nonetheless disappointed with the filly’s finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 3: TRADE ALLIANCE BM65 H'CAP – 1650M
WRITER – Trainer D. Stafford was fined $100 for failing to declare T. Treichel as the rider of this runner by the prescribed time.
SKYTASTIC – Stewards afforded S. Galloway the opportunity to comment on the horse’s performance. He stated that the gelding travelled well and at a point near the 600m he allowed the gelding to stride forward to improve its position, however from the 400m, when placed under pressure, proved disappointing. He added that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today’s firm surface under the heavy impost of 59½ kg. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ALL IN TIME – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
PRISCILLA’S STAR – Hung in in the straight.
GLAMORGAN BABE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
Race 4: BEAUDESERT SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M
CASTA LA CAT – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
WESTERN BELLE – Slow to begin and then tightened for room a short distance later when tightened for room when O’SPACEHELLO (B. Appo) shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice B. Appo was severely reprimanded. Held up rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ASPEN STREET – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF FRIDAY RACING SEQ CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1400M
MR PEPPERS – Raced wide throughout.
RHAEGO – Had to be steadied when racing in restricted room near the 400m.
SHOW A NOEE – Raced wide throughout.
MEANJIN – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Race 6: ROYAL HOTEL CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1300M
SUNSET HILLS – Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn.
RIVER GEORGIA – Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn And a short distance later had to be checked when severely tightened for room.
MATIGNON – Apprentice R. Jamieson was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift out on the home turn, causing tightening to runners to the outside.
CABALLO RAPIDO – Slow to begin.
CALCULATION – Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn and a short distance later had to be checked when severely tightened for room.
EARLSTOUN RULER – Had to be eased when tightened for room near the 300m.
REDHAWKS – Bumped heavily on the hindquarters rounding the home turn.
Race 7: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
KHALEEQ – Trainer D. Forster advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
CROSSBITE – Raced three wide without cover.
MELBOURNE BILLY – Slow to begin.
NEVADA BLUE – Had to be steadied from heels inside the 200m and shifted out to obtain clear running.
STAR AMORE – Had to be restrained from heels when overracing passing the 800m. Raced wide throughout.
WIGGLE WIGGLE – Began awkwardly. Held up leaving the 200m until inside the 100m.
