HALPIN – Raced wide throughout.

MAYBEMAX – Commenced to hang out approaching the 700m and continued to do so, racing extremely wide and taking no competitive part in the race. Trainer G. Watters was advised that the horse must perform to stewards’ satisfaction in an official trial before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DASH THING – Tightened for room the start and blundered, losing significant ground, and as a result was then unable to muster any early speed.

RACE 3: FRANKLIN CONSTRUCTION RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – 1050M

CASARATI – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

YABL DABL DOYA – Began awkwardly.

STORM MAGIC – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages and had to be steadied off heels on a number of occasions.

RACE 7: MATTHEW GUSE MEMORIAL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer M. Brosnan for the late declaration of B. Looker as the rider of MOSPORT.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when C. Small, the rider of HOAGY, made an application to have his mount declared a non-runner. After taking evidence from jockey Small and the starter and viewing the patrol footage, it was established that the horse was fractious in the barriers resulting in it missing the start by some distance. As stewards were satisfied that the horse’s own barrier manners resulted in it missing the start, it was therefore declared a runner and correct weight was declared.

MOSPORT – Slow to begin. B. Looker reported that his mount raced ungenerously throughout.

DAZZLING SHIRAZ – When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer Ms J. Crompton stated that the gelding was found to be suffering from a virus following its last start and added that the gelding was suited by today’s step up in distance over which it had previously performed well when ridden in a similar forward position.

PROSPECTING – Shifted in when being steadied to avoid the heels of tiring runners near the 250m, made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

ROCKWATER – As the gelding had not raced since April 2015, it underwent a veterinary examination which cleared it to start. Raced three wide throughout.
