GENERAL
 
Due to Covid restrictions Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 3 – Baronet – C Meehan plus 1kg at 55kg.
 
 
Race 1: HINTERLAND THOROUGHBREDS Fillies and Mares Class 2
Plate 1400 metres
 
The start was delayed approximately 7 minutes when the clerk of the courses horse sustained a suspected snake bite on route to the barriers and subsequently received attention by the on course veterinary surgeon.
 
DREAM SONG – Bumped on jumping.
 
ELLASTRA – Stood flat footed and lost ground.
 
ROZEIRA - Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the home turn.
 
SHEINDLIN – After being caught wide early was permitted to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader approaching the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: GPS RUGBY CLUB DERBY DAY QTIS Three-Year-Old
BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
KESSEL RUN – Approaching the 800m was steading from the heels of MISHANI OPERATOR.
 
 
COME CLEAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI OPERATOR – Over raced in the early stages. 
 
ALYSANNE – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position at the rear of the field closer to the rail. Near the 500m was forced wider by NO CHOICES which hung out.
 
NO CHOICES – Hung out throughout proving difficult to ride. Trainer M Hemmings was advised that the filly will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
 
 
Race 3: THE PALMS DERBY DAY Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
TEVERINA refused to proceed to the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:25pm. All monies invested on were TEVERINA ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:25pm:
2 cents in the dollar for the win PIXIE MAGIC
4 cents in the dollar for the place of winner PIXIE MAGIC
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place RAW GOLD
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place HARRYUP
 
Trainer L Gore was advised that the mare will be required to officially trial in the presence of Stewards.
 
QUE CEE SPADE – After being fractious in the mounting yard underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 100m and could not be fully tested to the line. Trainer A Plumb was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
WHISTLIN' RULER – Stewards acceded to a request by Trainer P Moncrieff to allow the gelding to race with the addition of blinkers as the pacifiers were damaged pre-race and the trainer was unable to obtain another set. Became fractious in the tie up enclosure and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Trainer P Moncrieff was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
BARONET – Stood flat footed and lost ground.
 
DOOBIE RUBY – Raced four wide without cover for the majority.
 
HARRYUP – Buffeted between runner’s shortly after jumping. Steadied when racing in restricted room for a short distance near the 800m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MS THORPEDO – Began awkwardly.
 
PIXIE MAGIC – When questioned in regard to the seemingly improved performance, Trainer B Robinson stated that the mare in its previous start at Ipswich was unlucky in the event however, has been working well leading up to today and therefore expected a forward showing today.
 
RAW GOLD – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: FLO BRAYBROOK BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2450 metres
 
THE HOUSEMAN – Began awkwardly.
 
TYCOON PLAYER – After being caught wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward and take up a leading position and was further permitted to stride forward as per its usual established racing pattern.
 
JAKK'S RIGHT (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MOONLIGHT ECLIPSE – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: HINTERLAND THOROUGHBREDS Fillies and Mares
BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
THE RED ONE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Held up for clear running entering the home turn until a point in the straight. Laid in under pressure in the concluding stages.
 
DAY PERFORMER (NZ) – Near the 800m improved onto heels and shifted out and raced wide without over for the remainder.
 
VON SAGA – Slow to begin.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Began awkwardly. Near the 800m improved onto heels and shifted wider and raced wide with cover for the remainder.
 
 
Race 6: GPS RUGBY CLUB DERBY DAY Colts, Geldings and Entires
BENCHMARK 58 Hand 1200 metres
 
BOBBY AXELROD – Shortly after the start bumped with EPIC PLAYER.
 
BROKEN HERO – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
MISHANI CONMAN –Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Near the 150m bumped by EPIC PLAYER.
 
SHOPPING ESPRIT – As a result of SHOPPING ESPRIT not having a race start in over 12 months the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin.
 
COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CORONEL – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
EPIC PLAYER – Shortly after the start bumped with BOBBY AXELROD. Laid in near the 150m and bumped with MISHANI CONMAN.
