Race 2 was 1200m, now 1100m,

Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:

Race 7 – MARNIE’S STAR – L Dittman +1/2kg
Race 7 – MONTANNA MAY – J Guthmann-Chester +1kg

Race 1: GLENFIDDICH @ AQUIS STALLIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old
BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1550 metres

VANILLI – Jockey M McGuren was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 2: CITY FLEET MAINTENANCE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap
1100 metres

APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Began awkwardly.

SILVANNA'S SONG– Apprentice W Peel was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the filly other than it was making a slightly abnormal breathing noise during the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. On the recommendation of the veterinary official SILVANNA’S SONG was stood down from racing until an endoscopic examination and report is forwarded for stewards.

Race 3: COLE EXCAVATIONS Maiden Handicap
1100 metres

Following the running of Race 2, stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected a part of the track near the 1100m chute as concerns were raised with the consistency of the racing surface at this point. Subsequently the starting point of the remaining 1100m races were re-located to the course proper.

EMPEROR'S SECRET - Began awkwardly.

CARREFOUR – Began awkwardly.

BANDIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

CHAOTIC CRANACHN – Began awkwardly.

Race 4: JUKEBOX @ AQUIS STALLIONS Colts, Geldings and Entires
Class 1 Plate 1100 metres

GRAND CHALLENGE – Jockey M Cox pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(5) and had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days for using her whip on 17 occasions during the event. Stewards directed the term of suspension to commence midnight the 9/07/2022 and to expire midnight the 16/07/2022.

THE POWER OF ONE – Jockey M McGuren advised stewards that whilst the gelding had previously won on a heavy track, he was of the belief that THE POWER OF ONE did not appreciate todays very heavy surface, and for this reason did not finish the race off as well as anticipated.

Race 5: COLE EXCAVATIONS Class 4 Plate
1550 metres

STATIC LIFT – Jockey J Williams was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, that being 2 more than permitted.

ZEELUCK – Began awkwardly.

Race 6: CITY FLEET MAINTENANCE BEAUDESERT CUP OPEN Handicap 1650 metres

GLEN ORD – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which failed to perform to market expectations revealed blood to be present in the nearside nostril along with a poor post-race recovery. Trainer D Murphy was advised that the gelding would require an endoscopic examination and would also be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to being permitted to race again. Trainer D. Murphy advised stewards that consideration would be given by connections regarding the future racing career of the gelding.

AZARMIN – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

NORDIC SHOW – Began awkwardly.

Race 7: SIMON HANCOCK MEMORIAL Maiden Handicap 1650 metres

MOONLIGHT COWBOY – Slow to begin.

MARNIE'S STAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 8: CITY FLEET MAINTENANCE Fillies and Mares Class 1 Plate
1100 metres

BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare which gave ground from the 600m to be beaten in excess of 37 lengths failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider C. Bayliss advised stewards that the heavy track conditions may have contributed to the mare failing to be competitive over the final 600m.

SWEET HOME ALABAMA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MISHANI ESPRIT – Jockey J Morris reported that the filly did not appreciate the heavy track conditions of today’s event.

MY SNOW QUEEN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
