RACE 9: NEXT RACEDAY SEPTEMBER 18 BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered objections lodged by Apprentice J. Williams, rider of the fourth placed I STOLE IT against the 2nd placed MISSY NO NAY (S. Champkin) and the 1st placed PETITE PALACE (R. Jamieson), alleging interference at the entrance to the home straight. On the evidence, Stewards were satisfied that approaching the 200m, I STOLE IT had established a run between MISSY NO NAY and PETITE PALACE. Near the 200m, Stewards note MISSY NO NAY shifted out when not clear of I STOLE IT, which was checked and lost its rightful running. As Stewards were of the view that the interference caused to I STOLE IT was attributable to MISSY NO NAY’s shift out, the objection of 4th vs 1st was dismissed. When considering the interference suffered to I STOLE IT, the 1/2 length margin between 2nd and 4th and how both runners finished the race off, Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred, I STOLE IT would have finished ahead of MISSY NO NAY at the conclusion of the event and therefore upheld the protest of 4th vs 2nd, and declared correct weight on the new numbers of: 16, 15, 6, 10.

Apprentice S. Champkin’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, commencing midnight 24th August 2025 and concluding midnight 5th September 2025. Stewards ordered this suspension to be served concurrently with her other suspension incurred in this race. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record in relation to this rule, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.

ACE'S IN BLOOM (NZ) – Near the 1000m, hampered when MISSY NO NAY (S. Champkin) shifted in when not clear. Apprentice S.
