GENERAL

As jockey M. Schrapel was ill, he was replaced as per the race day summary. Jockey Schrapel was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to next riding.

Prior to race one, Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Good 4 at 11:35am.

Race 1: TAB WE'RE ON MAIDEN HANDICAP 1650M

DIVIL A BIT – Began awkwardly. Apprentice O. Kendal reported her mount made the crossing awkwardly near the 1200m.

MARAVICH (IRE) – After being presented to race with blinkers instead of visors, and when there were no visors available to use, Stewards approved for the gelding to race with blinkers. Trainer E. Fouchard was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting MARAVICH to race with incorrect gear.

CYPHER PRINCE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced since 29th September 2024 and was cleared to race. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the gelding, which was first up for an extended period, will take benefit from today’s run.

PELLINOR – Made the crossing awkwardly near the 1200m. Jockey M. Hellyer reported it was not his intention to settle as far forward, however after the gelding raced keenly and was caught wide in the early stages, he allowed his mount to stride and settle in a forward position near the 900m.

STILL UNWANTED – Raced keenly in the early stages.

ARTISTIC TOUCH – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.

MISHANI IMPACT – Laid in from the 500m. Near 150m, was disappointed for a run to the inside of FAR CRY (A. Allen), which shifted in, and was obliged to steady and shift out to obtain clear running. Jockey A. Allen was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Cousins couldn’t offer an explanation for the performance other than the filly may not have appreciated todays track conditions. Mr Cousins advised he would report back to Stewards in the subsequent days if anything may come to light regarding the performance. Trainer C. Cousins was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s record for the poor performance.

FAR CRY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Allen reported the filly wasn’t suited to the fast early tempo in today’s race.
