GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 7: 10 GOLD MERCHANT – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg)
Race 8: 8 PAPAL MISS – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg)
As riders B. Wheeler was not riding due to illness and L. Dempsey due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Rider B. Wheeler was advised he would require a medical certificate of clearance prior to resuming riding.
Trainer S. Sixtus was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider on SOUTHAMPTON NICCO (Race 4) by the prescribed time.
RACE 1:MAYNARDS STORE BOONAH FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
COCO'S THE DEEL – Began awkwardly.
ELLOFABY – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
SATURDAYS GIRL – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m, momentarily held up for a run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
HAPPY COFFEE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the filly having raced at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday 7 June 2026. Over raced early and near the 800m, restrained from the heels of LADY KATE.
POLYESTER GIRL – Slow to begin and lost ground. Apprentice S. Champkin was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out to the end of the race, where possible.
RACE 2:PLASVACC AUSTRALIA COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
BOOM DIGGITY – Near the 500m, steadied when crowded between MISTER BLAZE and WORTHY WAY (J. Lloyd), which shifted out to improve. Rider J. Lloyd was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority.
GRUNT 'N' GROAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils (first occasion). Trainer D. Murphy was advised pursuant to AR 79(4), GRUNT 'N' GROAN would be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards prior to resuming.
MISTER BLAZE – Raced wide with cover for the majority.
COMEON KINGWILLIAM – On pulling up passing the winning post, eased from the heels of NAVY KISS (D. Turner), which shifted in and away from DIFRONZO. Rider D. Turner was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
NAVY KISS – After the running of this race it was noted the gelding had lost its off hind plate.
WORTHY WAY – Slow to begin.
RACE 3:SCENIC RIM CLYDESDALE SPECTACULAR FESTIVAL 2027 QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
DESTINYS SUMMIT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
JEANS – Hung out from the 500m until straightening.
MISHANI WITNESS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 300m, eased from the heels of DO WHAT I SAY and then was held up for clear running for a short distance afterwards.
LEBANESE – In the early part of the home straight, laid in and near the 150m, shifted in before being corrected.
ODE TO BEAUTY – Held up for clear running from the 300m until near the 250m. Near the 150m, momentarily held up for clear running when crowded for room.
JARDIN DE LYS – Slow to begin.
RUSSIAN RIPPER – Passing the 900m, steadied when awkward on the heels of LEBANESE. Raced three wide without cover from the 700m when keen.
RACE 4:AQUIS FARM OPERATIONS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 M
LUCKY ARTIE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the mounting yard enclosure rail. Rider A. Thompson reported his mount was not suited when challenged for the lead.
MAJESTIC LOUVRE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after receiving farrier attention to the left fore plate. Raced three wide without cover from the 600m.
SIGLO DE ORO – Began awkwardly and buffeted between runners shortly thereafter. Passing the 150m, was carried in slightly by SOUTHAMPTON NICCO (App A. McColm), which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice A. McColm was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
ALBION SQUARE (GB) – Rider M. Hellyer reported his mount laid out for the majority and did not stretch out in the going. After the running of this race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
RACE 5:CLYDESDALE SPECTACULAR RACEDAY 11TH JUNE 2027 FILLIES & MARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 M
CONSTANT CAFÉ – For a short distance passing the 100m, had difficulty obtaining clear running.
RUSSIAN PINS – Making the home turn, put in two awkward strides.
A TOUCH FROM FAYT – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start.
PULIGNY – Began awkwardly and inconvenienced shortly thereafter when A TOUCH FROM FAYT shifted out.
RACE 6:THE CLUB BEAUDESERT RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400 M
Prior to correct weight, Stewards viewed the official footage of the start where it was established that the gates of SEA WARNING opened slightly earlier than the remaining of the field. As a consequence, SEA WARNING was slow into stride. After consideration, Stewards were of the view that SEA WARNING gained no unfair advantage from the incident and declared the horse a starter.
CAUSEWAYS was declared a late withdrawal at 2:40pm when it was found that the saddle had not been collected after App J. Busuttin had weighed and consequently was left with insufficient time to saddle and present the gelding with 9 minutes prior to start time. After considering all the evidence, Trainer V. Venkaya was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR194 for failing to present CAUSEWAYS to the mounting yard 15minutes prior to its race time.
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on CAUSEWAYS to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - WHISTLING SPIRIT – 4c win, 4c place.
2nd - LENNYSTAR – 6c place.
3rd - BEE EXACT – 4c place.
SEA WARNING – Slow into stride.
WHISTLING SPIRIT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period.
IHAVESEENTHELIGHT – Slow to begin.
BEE EXACT – Apprentice R. O’Connell dropped his whip passing the 100m.
LENNYSTAR – Near the 500m, dipped.
BOOM COURT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils (2nd occasion). Trainer K. Loy was advised the BOOM COURT would now be banned from racing in Australia as per AR79(6).
RACE 7:Q STATE PROPERTIES CLYDESDALE CUP CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1650 M
VACILLATION – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When placed under pressure in the home straight, laid in.
MERCHANT LADY – Approaching the 1300m, was tightened between AIMA SUN and VACILLATION, which shifted out when racing keenly and close to the heels of runners in front. Left the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly.
RACE 8:YOUR Q TO MOVE - Q STATE PROPERTIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2450 M
A pre-race veterinary examination revealed PAPAL MISS to be lame in the off hind leg and was subsequently declared a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 3:09pm. Trainer V. Venkaya was advised PAPAL MISS would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
DON STEFANO (NZ) – After leaving the crossing at the 1200m, dipped.
O'CALDINO – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin and lost significant ground (4L). Eased down from the 200m. When asked to comment on the performance, rider A. Keeley his mount dipped near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer C. Zintillis was advised a warning would be placed on HELL FOLLOWS for being slow to begin and is required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming (poor performance).
