GENERAL
 
Stewards accepted the reasons put forward by trainers in regard to the late declaration of riders.

As Dual Trainer/Jockey License holder Brendon Newport had two horses engaged in Race 4 and he was declared to ride one of those horses in the event, Stewards replaced Jockey Newport pursuant to LR10 (ii) with Jockey J Baker.
 
Race 1: MARTINS STOCK HAULAGE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
ANOINTED LAD – Inconvenienced shortly after jumping between WHOLESOME (NZ) and LOVEZELADYS.
 
WHOLESOME (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after jumping and inconvenienced ANOINTED LAD.
 
AVVERTIMENTO (NZ) – Inclined to lay in under pressure down the home straight.
 
MY TURN ASTERN – Became fractious in the mounting yard and harmlessly dislodged Jockey Brendon Newport. Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: DAMIENS DIESEL SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
UPTURN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PHERE THE GIRLS – Slow to begin. Jockey Wendy Peel reported that as it was the mares first start racing in this direction PHERE THE GIRLS was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event.
 
MR EVANS – Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
 
OUR CELEBRITY – Slow to begin.
 
BLERIOT – Shifted wider rounding the home turn to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
 
SAVVY STATEMENT – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Taken wider rounding the home turn when BLERIOT shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
Race 3: RED BERET OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
POMPEII EMPIRE – Bumped on jumping.
 
SUSSU – Fractious and reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer B Hayes was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.
 
KING'S GOLD – Fractious in the barriers and as a result was slow to begin. Trainer G Bignell was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
TURNSTAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the home straight.
 
EQUAL BALANCE - Stewards accepted the reasons put forward by Trainer K Healy for the late scratching of the gelding which was dual engaged.
 
Race 4: GBA QTIS CLASS B HANDICAP 800 Metres
 
ENTITLE – As Dual Trainer/Jockey License holder Brendon Newport had two horses engaged in Race 4, he was replaced as the rider of ENTITLE by Jockey J Baker. Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey J Baker reported that on pulling up near the 1200m at the conclusion of the event he felt ill and dismounted from ENTITLE and when he handed the reins to the clerk of the course the mare knocked Jockey Baker over. Jockey Baker was treated by on course QAS Officers for superficial wounds to his elbow and cleared to fulfill his remaining ride at the meeting.
 
SHA NA NA – Began awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after jumping and bumped WHATABOOM. Shifted out slightly under pressure passing the 300m. Trainer K Healy was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners after SHA NA NA delayed the start when proving difficult to load.
 
SMACKEROONY – Slow to begin. Inclined to hang out and shift out rounding the home turn. Shifted in passing the 50m.
 
WHATABOOM – Shifted in shortly after jumping and bumped SHA NA NA. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
LADY DUTTON –Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 5: LES BAKER MEMORIAL BETOOTA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 Metres
 
WARRAH FLASH – Slow to begin.
 
ALL WORDS – Brushed with GRINZINGER BISHOP passing the 300m.
 
KAZZA'S JET – As Jockey J Baker was to be overweight, Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer L Baker for Jockey J Baker to ride the mare 1kg over the allotted weight. Jockey Baker pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR190(3) in that he did accept a ride when overweight. Jockey Baker was fined $100.
 
FIGO THE GREAT – Began awkwardly.
 
HE'S MAVERICK – Slow to begin.
 
THREE GONGS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
GRINZINGER BISHOP (NZ) – Reared as the start was affected and as a result lost ground. Brushed with ALL WORDS passing the 300m.
 
NATIVE CLAN – Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
