GENERAL

All runners at today’s meeting which raced at the Birdsville meeting yesterday, underwent a veterinary examination prior to racing and were subsequently cleared to start.
 
Stewards accepted all explanations from trainers regarding their late rider declarations.
 
RACE 1: BROOK PASTORAL COMPANY RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1000M
 
RUBICON RIVER – Blundered on jumping. Jockey W. Peel reported that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the event and proved disappointing.
 
TRISCAY'S WAR PASS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DREYFUS – Slow to begin. Leaving the 300m, disappointed for a run to the inside of ARABIAN SOO and shifted out approaching the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
HALLOWED GROUND – Began awkwardly and brushed SUPER EXCEPTIONAL. Approaching the 800m, commenced to hang out and race ungenerously for a short distance.
 
GO GO DOLLY – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and passing the 100m shifted in obliging Apprentice B. Baker to stop riding and straighten her mount.
 
ARABIAN SOO – Inclined to lay out in the early stages.
 
FIREUPZOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
LADY ENCRYPTEAU – Slow to begin.
 
SUPER EXCEPTIONAL – Began awkwardly and brushed HALLOWED GROUND.
 
RACE 2: G & C PASTORAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey M. Gray, rider of the 2nd placed TURNSTAR to view the official photo finish. After viewing the photo, Jockey Gray was satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.
 
ZENA BOY – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice S. Robbins advised the gelding wasn’t suited to the heavy weight in today’s event and may not have appreciated the quick backup.
 
TURNSTAR – Slow to begin, shifted out and bumped YUKAN ROSE. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and approaching the winning post, bumped with YUKAN ROSE. Jockey M. Gray reported the gelding resented racing in the kickback in the early and middle stages.
 
YUKAN ROSE – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from the 600m until shifting out near the 400m. Approaching the winning post, bumped with TURNSTAR.
 
RAPIDS – Began awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in Jockey H. Phillips becoming unbalanced.
 
RACE 3:NUTRIEN AG CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M
 
LUCKY FORCE – Laid in under pressure on the entrance to the home straight.
 
NORTHUMBRIA – Commenced to race keenly and was inclined to lay out approaching the 800m.
 
ZAVABOOM – Approaching the 800m, was inclined to lay out and was taken wider by NORTHUMBRIA and had to be steadied from the heels of SHA NA NA. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WINDORAH – Began awkwardly and blundered on jumping resulting in the mare being slow into stride. Near the 300m, Jockey R. Faehr momentarily dropped his reins before regathering a short distance later.
 
RACE 4: LYNDHURST STUD QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M
 
UPTURN – Raced wide in the early stages and was inclined to lay out during the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPIN DOCTOR – Slow to begin. Passing the 650m, put in an awkward stride and momentarily unbalanced Jockey E. Bell.
 
LEGOLAS – Began awkwardly.
 
THE GOSSIPER – Began awkwardly.
 
DODGE THE DARK – Raced wide throughout.
 
TORERA – Jockey K. Nestor reported that rounding the turn passing the 900m the mare was resenting the kickback from today’s racing surface and was inclined to hang out. Jockey Nestor added that when TORERA secured a position outside of the kickback, the mare commenced to race more generously.
 
RACE 5:VISITBIRDSVILLE.COM BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1600M
 
HE'S MAVERICK – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GRINZINGER BISHOP (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
PANDA DRUM – Passing the 1500m, taken wider by SHOALWATER BAY which laid out.
 
NATIVE CLAN – Stewards acceded to the request from Trainer J. Keys for the blinkers to be removed from NATIVE CLAN’s gear following its racing performance at the Birdsville meeting yesterday. Passing the 1500m, was momentarily inconvenienced and had to be steadied from the heels of PANDA DRUM which shifted out after being taken wider by SHOALWATER BAY which laid out. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure at the entrance to the home straight and then weakened over the concluding stages.
 
ANOINTED LAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
REGAL JUDGEMENT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHOALWATER BAY – Approaching the 1500m, was inclined to lay out.
 
LORD PERCY – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 6:TAB BIRDSVILLE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600M
 
TESTATOR SILENS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight and finished the race wide on the track.
 
WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Shifted in passing 700m.
 
CASINO LORD – Slow to begin. Checked from the heels of CACOFONIX approaching the 650m.
 
HETTINGER (NZ) – Near the 700m, steadied after being taken in by WITHOUT REVENGE.
 
THE DRILLER – Inconvenienced approaching the 650m and was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of CASINO LORD. Shifted in over the concluding stages.
 
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CACOFONIX – Near the 700m, checked when tightened for room inside HETTINGER which was tightened for room and taken in when WITHOUT REVENGE (G. Geran) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey G. Geran pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 700m, he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting into the line of HETTINGER (A. Sweeney) which was steadied and taken into the line of CACOFONIX (K. Nestor) which was checked and lost its rightful running. As a result, runners following were also inconvenienced. Jockey G. Geran’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 6th of September 2025 and to expire midnight 19th of September 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered Jockey Geran’s record in relation to this rule, guilty plea and the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines. A post-race Veterinary examination of CACOFONIX revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
EQUAL BALANCE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
RACE 7: FRED BROPHY FAREWELL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M
 
BURDEN – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
DECLASSIFY – Began awkwardly.
 
BADGE – Jockey W. D’Avila reported his mount didn’t appreciate the kickback of today’s racing surface.
 
BENEVENTO – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
FOXWELL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
LIP SIP SUK – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S. Robbins dropped her whip approaching the 200m.
 
ACEDROD – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
STARLITE REBEL – Raced wide for the majority.
 
WYUNA STAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider behind the barriers and was cleared to race. Slow to begin. Weakened over the concluding stages. Jockey R. Faehr reported his mount didn’t feel comfortable in its action throughout the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
