There was a delay to the start of race one, allowing time to set the photo finish equipment up correctly and test.
 
Race 1: SWAN HILL CATTLE CO QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1050 metres
 
There was a delay to correct weight as judges and stewards ascertained minor placing positions. After looking at patrol footage and photo finish print, placings were declared and correct weight given 1st - 3 ASBURY PARK, 2nd – LEARNING CURVE, 3rd dead heat EMPIRE PRINCESS and HOT CHOCOLATE.
 
MISSY EM – Slow to begin, travelled wide for much of the race with no cover and hung out rounding the home turn.
 
COLOUR CHART – Slow to begin, unable to muster pace in the early stages.
 
OUR GIRL TAMIYA – Difficult to load.
 
 
Race 2: FOREST PARK OPEN PLATE 1050 metres
 
ANGELS OF FENWAY – Jumped outwards and bumped DRAYMAN shortly after the start.
 
DIVINE RED – Slow into stride and travelled wide to avoid the kickback.
 
BETTER THAN GOLD – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 3: BEEF BREEDING SERVICE MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres
 
An inquiry was opened into the running of race three when two gates failed to open as the start was effected. After collating evidence from the starter, jockeys, Steward positioned in the back straight and patrol footage available it was declared a race. BUMPER BAR & UNLEISHA were both declared non–runners when their gates failed to open. Deductions were announced with correct weight of 20 cents in the face value of the win bet and all monies invested on BUMPER BAR & UNLEISHA refunded.
 
After the event the gates were tested on multiple occasions.
 
BUMPER BAR – Fractious in the gates prior to jumping and reared on several occasions. The gate failed to open and declared a non-runner.
 
UNLEISHA – Fractious prior to jumping. The gate failed to open and declared a non-runner.
 
SET TO FIGHT – Slow to begin.
 
MIKKI’S MISTRESS – Fractious prior to jumping.
 
 
Race 4: BULL CREEK BEEF BM 65 HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
NO REFUND – Jumped away poorly losing ground.
 
ARCHADE – Eased off heels near the 800m.
 
COYNES ROAD – Had to be eased off heels approaching the 800m when racing in restricted room.
 
LESLIE JAMES – Slow to muster speed and raced ungenerously.
 
Race 5: LAMBERT STUD CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 metres
 
JAMAICAN DREAM – Eased off heels near the 300m when front markers tired.
 
YULE MY HERO – Travelled wide for much of the race. Jockey B. Richardson reported the gelding hung out for much of the event. It was noted the connections will experiment with gear prior to starting again.
 
ITSALLKAY – Slow to begin.
 
COUPE DE VILLE – Difficult to load.
 
Race 6: COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER / STRATHMORE BLACKALL CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 metres
 
BURDEN – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
BRYNEICH – Shifted ground near the 1100m inconveniencing another runner.
 
DOOM – Shifted wider at the 300m to gain clear running.
 
KEDLESTON – Restrained off heels leaving the 1100m after being crossed by another runner which was not fully clear, losing momentum. Shifted wider on the track at the 500m to gain clear running.
