Race 1: RYAN BROS NUDGEE MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
 
ANACARDIUM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
KENSINGTON'S JEWEL (NZ) – Blundered shortly after jumping. Commenced to lay in when placed under pressure approaching the 100m, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding to avoid the heels of GALATH (NZ). Laid in under pressure for the remainder of the straight.
 
NYTHE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m shifted out across the heels of NORM’S GENERATION which laid in under pressure.
 
GALATH (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages and was inclined to lay in. Trainer R Hay advised ,stewards that the gelding has come to the end of its preparation, and it is his intention to send GALATH (NZ) for a spell.
 
NORM'S GENERATION – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m until passing 100m.
 
BLOOMIN' GOLD – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
QUEEN'S COMMAND – Slow to begin.
 

Race 2: CAROLAN PAINTING SERVICES BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
ISHOTTHEDEPUTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CUSHY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
PARUES – When asked to comment on the performance trainer H Forster commented that the gelding over raced at its last start and proved disappointing however today was more suited by being able to settle and dictate terms throughout.  
 
RELATED DUTY – Slow to begin.
 
TRAPEZE FLYER – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room between the 600m and 500m to the inside of MOUNT MARGARET which was inclined to lay in.
 
LASCO – Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ROARING SUCCESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing in Townsville on Saturday the 19th of July and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned on the performance apprentice G Semmens stated that in her opinion the gelding didn’t handle the quick back up from Townsville and was its first start on a dirt track and proved disappointing. Trainer R Williams concurred with the comments of the rider.
 
THE STONE MASON – Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
 
MISS BIITTERSWEET – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MOUNT MARGARET – Jockey P Hamblin reported that the mare was inclined to lay in between the 600m and 500m.
 
 
Race 3: KANTHER LAW QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1050 M
 
Correct for this race was delayed to allow jockey E Bell, rider of second placed ARABIAN SOO to review the replays of the home straight in relation to lodging a protest against the winner. After reviewing the replays Ms Bell declined to protest and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
 
TWILIGHT ROCK – Apprentice jockey N Palmer reported after being held up in the middle stages he was required to shift wider on the home turn to obtain clear running. Apprentice N Palmer also added that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by today’s racing surface and may be suited in races over further distances.
 
IL TORO D'ORO – Raced wide throughout.
 
FLUDWAY – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight
 
HORNNIC – Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 100m was inclined to lay out under pressure.
 
SERIAL OFFENDER – Inclined to lay out under pressure on occasions in the home straight.
 
JEROME – Slow to begin. Raced wide and trailed the field throughout.
 
MINT STREET – Held up for clear racing room from the 50m, shifted in to obtain clear racing room and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
 
Race 4: HALLAM PLUMBING & EQUIPMENT HOSE QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP  1050 M

LEGOLAS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
 
BONNET ROUGE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
YEMEAN – Began awkwardly.
 
FIRST SHOUT – Began awkwardly and as a result slow to begin.
 
CHERRY POP – Began awkwardly.
 
BONTOBEWILD – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in when entering the home straight and continued to lay in for the remainder. Apprentice jockey I Jessop reported on weighing in that her mount was inclined to hang in throughout the home straight and was unable to test the filly out fully.
 
DUBIOUS LOVE – Raced wide throughout and trailed the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HENNY PENNY – Began awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 5: GBA ENGINEERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1050 M

GOTTA FLY – Taken inwards passing the 120m when ENFLAMED shifted in under pressure.
 
MON PIERRE – Jockey R Faehr reported to stewards that he dropped his whip near the 300m.
 
POLE POSITION – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure passing the 120m.
 
WATER LAD – Raced in restricted room passing the 80m when taking a run between CHIEF MONDO and POLE POSITION. When questioned, apprentice jockey N Palmer stated that after settling towards the rear the gelding resented the kick back. However, when placed under pressure approaching the home turn finished the race off in a more competitive manner over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ENFLAMED – Passing the 120m shifted in and away from ZA HIDDEN DRAGON which laid in under pressure. Apprentice I Jessop when questioned on the disappointing performance advised that after beginning only fairly the gelding did not travel as well as expected and weakened over the concluding stages. Ms Jessop further added that in the past when unable to lead ENFLAMED has raced in a similar disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
VOLDEMORT – Slow to begin. Shifted wider pasting the 500m and raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHIEF MONDO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 

Race 6: BLACKALL-TAMBO REGIONAL COUNCIL CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 M

KORDIA – Slow to begin.
 
SCARZEL – Inclined to over race in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in when entering the home straight.
 
TANGO FAME – Passing the 400m steadied off the heels of BALDASSARE.
 
BALDASSARE – When questioned on the performance jockey P Hamblin stated after a poor start, he was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross runners to his inside and as a result was trapped wide for the majority of the race. Mr Hamblin further added he was of the view that the gelding may be better suited stepping up in distance. Jockey P Hamblin reported to stewards that he has discussed with the trainer that BALDASSARE may benefit from a tongue tie being added to its gear.
 
AREYA TUCHUZY – Raced wide throughout.
 

Race 7: SCHLUTER'S BAKERY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
IDHANA – Began awkwardly.
 
BRILLIANT MELODY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CROWN REACH – Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Bounded in the air on jumping and was slow to begin.
 
WINDOW TAPPER – Raced wide throughout.
 
FINAL MISSION – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HAMISO – Raced wide for the majority of the event and weakened over the final 100m.
 
POTESTAS – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. When questioned on the performance jockey R Faehr stated that the gelding travelled ungenerously in the early stages and dipped near the 600m.
 
 
Race 8: SCOBIES SADDLERY OPEN HANDICAP         1400 M

PARKO – Weakened over the concluding stages.
 
MOMACK – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HEYINGTON STATION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SCORCHED LAND – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GREEK STAR – Raced wide throughout. Weakened over the concluding stages.
 
MORE THAN A STAR – Slow to begin.
 
HERE HE LOOMS – Slow to begin and slow into stride. Held up for clear running till the home turn.
 
PREFERRAL (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
