GENERAL
The following horses were declared late scratching’s by Stewards at 10.50am due to no riders being available at the meeting:
Race 1: HOWSE
Race 4: CORVALIST - CHIEF MONDO
Race 5: BURDEKIN
Race 1: RAY WHITE RURAL BLACKALL QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1400 Metres
TAPA KICK – Shifted out passing the 200m to obtain clear running.
ARMSTRONG BAY – Began awkwardly.
HIT 'EM UP – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of tying up and a poor recovery.
THE COAT HANGER – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
HOWSE – Declared to be a late scratching at 10.50am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
INTOXICATION – Raced wide throughout the event.
YOU KAY SQUEEZE - Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2: GDL BLACKALL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BOLD SMUGGLER – Jockey M Heagney reported that BOLD SMUGGLER never travelled well throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding from the 600m. Jockey Heagney also added that in his opinion the gelding which was having its second run back from a spell, will benefit from the fitness gained in today’s event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost the off hind shoe in running causing damage to the hoof wall and showing signs of lameness. Trainer P O’Toole was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary certificate before racing or trialling again.
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow into stride.
POWER SISTER – Inclined to over race in the early stages of the event.
ALL TOO LUCKY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BITTERSWEET PLUCK - Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 3: ELDERS BLACKALL MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
ARE YA THERE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey J Rudd reported that the gelding was inclined to race greenly throughout the event.
LONHANOVA – Stood flat footed and as a result was slow to begin. Trainer T Schofield was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding’s barrier manners.
BEL SONG – Stood flat footed and as a result was slow to begin. Trainer P O’Toole was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare’s barrier manners.
BOOM FLYER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SIMPLY SMASHING - Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 4: NUTRIEN WESTERN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1050 Metres
A LOT OF BOOTY – Shifted out on jumping and bumped POTESTAS.
MAYBE – Inconvenienced and bumped on jumping when SPEC OF SILVER shifted out and ALL VALOUR shifted in.
CORVALIST – Declared to be a late scratching at 10.50am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
SPEC OF SILVER – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MAYBE.
NOVAYA – Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was affected dislodging Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow. Trainer T Schofield was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. Apprentice Mankelow was examined by on course QAS officers and passed suitable to fulfill her remaining riding engagement. A post-race Veterinary examination of NOVAYA revealed no significant findings.
ALL VALOUR – Began awkwardly. Shifted in and inconvenienced MAYBE. Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
CHIEF MONDO – Declared to be a late scratching at 10.50am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
POTESTAS – Bumped on jumping.
CONSORTING ONE – Became fractious when being loaded into the barriers and harmlessly dislodged Jockey S Galvin. Trainer D Rewald was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare’s barrier manners. Raced wide throughout the event.
Race 5: FRAME RURAL AGENCIES OPEN HANDICAP 1050 Metres
TESTATOR SILENS – Began awkwardly, resulting in the gelding being slow to begin and losing ground.
RUSH HOUR – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TOKYO SINS – Raced wide throughout the event.
BURDEKIN – Declared to be a late scratching at 10.50am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
MR CASHMAN – Taken wider on jumping when HIGHGROUND shifted out.
FLYING RUPERT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
HIGHGROUND – Began awkwardly and shifted out taking MR CASHMAN wider.
