Race 1. FILBY’S MOTORS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
 
ARMAGEDDON FLYER – The mare was found to have shifted a hind plate in transit to the racecourse. As there was no farrier present on course, the remaining hind plate was removed and the mare raced barefoot behind.
 
HE’S TITILLATING – The gelding, which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Slowly away.
 
ALPHA BLUE – Slowly away.
 
NICCONI RAIN – Shifted in on jumping inconveniencing a runner to its inside.
 
SO FIRED UP – Inconvenienced on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
WHOBETHATNOW – Made the first turn awkwardly. Inclined to lay in through the middle stages. Raced 3 wide for the majority. Jockey B Thomson accidentally dropped her whip in the vicinity of the 600m.
 
Race 2. TINCONE QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m
 
RIVERINA DEMAND – Was a late withdrawal at 1:23pm by order of Stewards acting under Veterinary advice after the mare was found to be lame in the off fore leg. As betting for this event had not yet commenced, no deductions were applicable. Trainer K Russell was advised that a Veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare again being permitted to start in a race.
 
SO NOBLE – Slowly into stride.
 
JUST FRANK – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MADAM JANE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
RISK IN ROME – Rolled out marginally rounding the 700m turn inconveniencing a runner which was following.
 
QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Had to be restrained and shifted out near the 700m to avoid the heels of a runner to the inside which rolled out marginally.
 
UNDER THE DUNES – App I Teh was cautioned in relation to her use of the whip on a runner out of contention.
 
Race 3. TICS GROUP CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m
 
DIAMOND COUNTRY – The mare, which raced at Townsville on Tuesday May 31, 2022 underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
 
NUREMBURG CASTLE – Slowly into stride.
 
GDANSK – Hung out rounding the home turn taking runners to its outside wider.
 
PLUCKERCARKN – Carried wider rounding the home turn when a runner to its inside commenced to hang out. Raced wide for the majority.
 
WIDESPREAD - Carried wider rounding the home turn when a runner to its inside commenced to hang out. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 4. IN MEMORY OF NATALIE LEE 2022 BATTLE OF THE BUSH BOWEN QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly.
 
ANCIENT ECHOES – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inconvenienced approaching the winning post by another runner which shifted out under pressure.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
Race 5. MI SCAFFOLD CLASS B HANDICAP 1280m
 
SUPREME PRINCE – The gelding, which raced at Townsville on Tuesday May 31, 2022 underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
 
LITTLE WAND – As no other suitable rider was available, Stewards permitted Jockey J Stanley to ride the mare 2.0kg overweight.
 
MISHANI TULIP – Was a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 3:36pm after becoming fractious enroute to the barriers, dislodging Apprentice S Nielson, and escaping the racecourse precinct. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight, Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the filly be refunded in full, and further, that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching be subject to deductions of 12 cents in the dollar win and 11 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Apprentice Nielson subsequently declined any attention from QAS Officers and declared herself fit to fulfil her remaining riding engagement. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that the filly is required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
ZAKHEERA – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
MAJOR NIC – Shifted out rounding the home turn inconveniencing ZAKHEERA. Near the 200m shifted in under pressure, when tiring, making contact with CAT IN THE RAINE which became unbalanced and shifted out hampering ZAKHEERA AND TOUCH OF BALI. Jockey L McCoy was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances.
 
CAT IN THE RAINE – Near the 200m was contacted by another runner, becoming unbalanced and subsequently shifting out hampering runners to its outside. Jockey D Smith was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances.
 
Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight connections of 4th placed TOUCH OF BALI viewed the available patrol footage in order to determine whether grounds existed for an objection against 2nd placed CAT IN THE RAINE on the basis of interference in the home straight. After viewing the footage connections elected not to proceed and Stewards declared Correct Weight on the Judge’s numbers.
 
Race 6. HILLERY GROUP WHITSUNDAY CUP BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1470m
 
TICTOC TICTOC – Slowly into stride.
 
LINCOLN FURY – Slowly into stride.
 
BOLD ZIP – Slowly into stride.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DAWN STRIKE – Assumed the lead passing the 1300m after taking charge of Apprentice K Lenton and establishing a significant break on the rest of the field in the middle stages. Commenced to tire passing the 500m. Both Trainer J Hassett and Apprentice K Lenton were of the opinion that DAWN STRIKE, which has raced fiercely in the past, requires a more experienced rider.
