Stewards – R. Neal, J. McIntosh

GENERAL

1.    On race morning the Club advised the Stewards that due to a minor issue with the irrigation equipment, a damp patch was evident near the 1,050 metres and some 5 metres out wide on the track. Following an inspection of the affected area by Stewards and Senior riders, the ground was considered suitable for racing and no further action was required.

MIDAS STAR – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

SNITZAROO – Slow into stride.

BEPPE – Slow into stride. Had to steady off heels passing the 600 metres when racing greenly.

NANO STAR – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to run. Trainer Lachie Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.

OLD FASHIONED ROSE – Was contacted by NANO STAR and became fractious when in the barriers, with rider Isabella Teh sustaining a soft tissue injury and being unable to take the mount. As a result, OLD FASHIONED ROSE was declared a late scratching at 1:49pm. Ms. Teh, was attended by the QAS Officers and cleared of any significant injury. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on OLD FASHIONED ROSE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

1st Place (SNITZAROO) – 7c the win and 9c the place
2nd Place (MIDAS STAR) – 9c the place.

During the running of this race, Stewards observed that a section of the running rail had not been replaced after access was gained by officials’ vehicles. Stewards corrected this situation before the running of Race 2.

Race 2: PILCHERS CONCRETE MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

ARTURETTA – Raced ungenerously for a short distance rounding the 800-metre corner.

A post-race veterinary examination of COSMIC ATOM revealed no obvious abnormality.
