CLONCURRY / CLONCURRY AND DISTRICT RACE CLUB –Friday 10th October 2025
Race 6: EXPLORE PROPERTY MUNRO & CO BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000m
VIKING VALOR – A post-race veterinary examination of Viking Valor which raced disappointingly and tailed out, revealed the gelding to be uncomfortable and showing symptoms of “tying up” and as such was treated by the Club Veterinary Surgeon accordingly with medication. A Veterinary Certificate of fitness will be required before VIKING VALOR next races.
RACE 1: GRAND VIEW HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 M
HEAD HONCHO – lay in passing the 200 metres and had to be corrected; rider Aidan Hold accidently dropped his near side rein passing the 100 which took some time to recover.
NO LOVE LOST – upon returning to scale rider Adam Sewell of the 4th placed NO LOVE LOST lodged an objection against 3rd placed ANSWERING (Wanderson D’Avila) alleging interference near the 150 metres. After question both riders and reviewing the vision available it was established that passing the 150 metres ANSWERING had shifted out under hard riding and in doing so had bumped with NO LOVE LOST which had become briefly unbalanced. Thereafter NO LOVE LOST had an unimpeded run to line. Given all circumstances, including the interference suffered, and the margin between both runners at the finish, the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that notwithstanding the said interference, NO LOVE LOST would have finished in advance of ANSWERING and accordingly the protest was dismissed.
ANSWERING – shifted out under riding passing the 200 metres and bumped with NO LOVE LOST.
MADAM BORODINA – underwent a post-race examination with no abnormality being detected, after rider Ivo Fry expressed concerns with the mare’s actions over the final stages. Connections advised that MADAM BORODINA would now be sent for a spell.
RACE 2: CLEANSKIN WELDING RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1200 M
CRAICARO – Stewards questioned rider Ivo Fry regarding the below market performance of CRAICARO which was unplaced. In explanation rider Fry stated that after settling back he had attempted to improve passing the 600 metres however the mare had failed to respond to his riding and came off the bridle at that point. Rider Fry added that CRAICARO had finished the race off fairly from the 400 metres but nonetheless was disappointing. Rider Fry’s explanation was noted.
CAILIN ALAINN – slow in the early stages.
RACE 3: LIBERTY RURAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
THE GENERAL TALKS – slow in the early stages; inclined to lay inwards in the final straight.
SHE’SANAIS – steadied and lost ground when becoming unbalanced making the turn near the 800 metres. Rider Denicious Smith reported that the mare had raced greenly throughout.
LOST LAMB – hung out badly throughout the final straight, finishing the race wide on the track. Trainer Mr. Darby Amos was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Stewards also questioned Mr. Amos regarding the improved performance of LOST LAMB which had been unplaced in all starts to date. In explanation Mr. Amos stated that shortening the space between races had proved beneficial, together with the gelding gaining experience from its recent races.
RACE 4: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 PLATE 1280 M
NAPA VALLEY- inconvenienced at the start.
SPIN DOCTOR – jumped in at the start, inconveniencing NAPA VALLEY.
HELL OF A TRIP – began awkwardly.
NEGATION – slow in the early stages.
RACE 5: BOWEN TYRE & MECHANICAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1470 M
FALLGUY – hampered on jumping: Stewards adjourned an inquiry into rider Michael McDonald’s whip use in the final straight until Tuesday 14th October 2025, so that enhanced vision of the race could be viewed and assessed.
GOODNIGHT ROMEO – jumped in at the start and hampered FALLGUY.
MR CALEB – slow to begin.
HE GOES BOOM – rider Ivo Fry was firmly reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts fully to the line, after relaxing his ride passing the 50 metres and narrowly retaining 3rd placing.
RACE 6: FILBY'S MOTORS BOWEN CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1810 M
MEDAL (NZ) – over-raced through the middle stages.
KINGS CASTLE (FR) – got back at the start.
THE PENSKE FILE – lay out near the 100 metres and had to be straightened.
TORQUE ESPAGNA – raced keenly in the early stages.
