GENERAL - The following horses were late scratching’s due to no available rider -:
Race 3 – DUBAWI’S GIRL (Trainer Joshua Manzelmann), EGZAKLY (Trainer K Russell) Race 4 YOUR TOO GOOD (Trainer J Doolan) and Race 5 SECRET BOOM (Trainer L Manzelmann) . All trainers were advised that in similar circumstances at TAB meetings, they are required to scratch their runners prior to official scratching time of 8.00 a.m.
RACE 1:JAMES' LASER SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
ZEMOREYA - A warning was issued to the connections regarding the mare being fractious in the starting stalls. Raced three wide from the 600 metres.
ARANCIA – Just prior to a start being effect ARANCIAbacked out of the barriers and was reloaded.
MISSIN' DE QUO – Tightened when under pressure at the 200 metres whenSHE'S GOT LYRICSshifted in marginally.
SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Hung in over the final 250 metres and momentarily tightened MISSIN' DE QUO at the 200 metres.
STREAMELOT (IRE) – Slow to begin.
RACE 2: FILBY'S MOTORS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1470 M
SILVER CITY – Trainer M Purvis was questioned regarding the reason for the late rider notification of Jockey C Whiteley which was notified at 4.00 p.m. on 9 April 2026.
After hearing an explanation, Ms. Purvis was advised of her obligation to declare riders by the prescribed time. Jumped awkwardly and brushed REMLAP KAVA.
WAR COUNCIL – Caught wide early and then commenced torace fiercely. Jockey T Chambers then allowed the gelding to stride forward to race outside the leader, and she reported to Stewards that WAR COUNCIL, which was now racing in blinkers again, refused to settle and raced keenly throughout. She also recommended to Trainer Steven Royes that the gelding race with a tongue tie in future. Shifted in when over racing, brushing GONCALO at 750 metres and again at the 700 metres.
REMLAP KAVA – On jumping collided with SILVER CITY.
KING CANUTE - Tired over the concluding stages and a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
GONCALO – Brushed by WAR COUNCILat the 750 metres and again at the 700 metres.
RACE 3: BROUCEK HEAVY DIESEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1280 M
YOROKOBI (NZ) – Slow into stride. Approaching the 700 metres had to be eased away from the heels of MISHANI PERFECTION.
OUR MISSILE - Difficult to load delaying the start.
THE KOBAY TRAIN – Very slow to begin.
RACE 4: SPORTSBET BOWEN MOTHERS DAY RACEDAY OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M
HELLISH – The start was delayed when HELLISH (Apprentice J Devine)became unruly in the barriers just prior to the start and was momentarily cast, and as a result the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 4.17 p.m. All monies invested on HELLISHwere ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 4.17 p.m.

Trainer Zac McFarlane who oversaw the gelding in the absence of Trainer T Button was advised that HELLISH will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.
When driven back to the mounting yard, Apprentice J Devine went to consult about the incident with Trainer Zac McFarlane who was on his mobile phone at the time speaking with Trainer T Button. Simultaneously the riderless HELLISH returned to scale with the clerk of the course and was released to Trainer Zac McFarlane who then handed his mobile phone to Apprentice J Devine in the mounting yard. Apprentice J Devine then continued the mobile phone conversation with Trainer T Button about the circumstances. Stewards checked the call log on Trainer Zac McFarlane mobile phone and confirmed the call as stated to Trainer T Button.
After considering all the evidence, Stewards took no further action however the attention of Trainer Zac McFarlane and Apprentice J Devine were drawn to Australian Racing Rule 218 (2a) -:
AR 218 No transmission of certain information in certain areas at racecourses
(2) Without the permission of the Stewards, a person must not have turned on or use a
mobile telephone, tablet, radio transmitter, radio transceiver or any other appliance,
apparatus, instrument or equipment capable of receiving or transmitting information
during a race meeting in any of the following areas:
(a) the mounting yard.
BOOMING LAD – Hung in badly shortly after the start and continued to hang in throughout the race losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and Trainer Ms. T Simmons was advised that BOOMING LADmust trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.
METAL (NZ) – Was a late scratching at 10.07 a.m. when injured at the Trainers stables prior to being floated.Trainer S Bush was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the gelding again races.
RACE 5: MCDOWALL'S PANEL WORKS QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000 M
MADAM BORODINA – Finished a distance behind the remainder of the field after conceding ground in the home straight.Trainer Zac McFarlane who oversaw the mare, advised that MADAM BORODINAwho was having its first start since going for a spell, had pulled up well and he spoke with Trainer T Button following the race and that no set plans had been made for the mare other than to reassess its preparation in coming weeks.
BETTER NOT FORGET - Began awkwardly losing ground. Raced wide throughout. Jockey W D’Avila reported at scale that he felt the gelding was not free in its action and he eased the beaten BETTER NOT FORGET down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
