Rider Ivo Fry reported that he sustained bruising to the nose prior to Race 8 at Townsville on Friday 8 May when his mount (READ EM AND WEEP) threw its head in the air shortly after leaving the mounting yard.
 
 
Race 1: FILBY’S MOTORS QTIS Maiden Plate 1280M
 
ROYAL EDITION – Reluctant to leave the mounting yard.
 
 
RACE 2: THANK YOU GARROD FAMILY RATINGS BAND 0-50 Handicap 1200M
 
CHALKLEY – Raced wide without cover throughout. Shifted in momentarily leaving the 700 metres, crowding PRINCESS SHANGHAI.
 
PRINCESS SHANGHAI – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.  Crowded leaving the 700 metres when CHAKLEY shifted in.
 
MR DAMAGE – Brushed the running rail leaving the 250 metres and became unbalanced.
 
STATESWOMAN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
 
RACE 3: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY OPEN Plate 1000M
 
FAMILY STAR – Laid in under pressure in the final straight.
 
HELLISH – Blundered on jumping, losing ground. Shortly after entering the home straight, laid in and contacted the running rail.
 
ROWEINER’S DANCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in through the early part of the home straight.
 
 
RACE 4: QUEEN OF CLOTHING Class 3 Plate 1000M
 
DALT JAZ – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with DIAMOND LUCY.
 
HELL OF A TRIP – Lost its off-side hind plate during the event.
 
DIAMOND LUCY – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with DALT JAZ. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
