Race 1: CHARLEVILLE CATTLE CAMP HOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100m
1st – PEAK CROSSING 2nd –MISS RALPHIE 3rd –IT’S A SNIP 4th- PUBLIC FORTUNE

After being fractious in the tie-up stalls prior to the race, IRISH DARK was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12.38pm.

LET THE TIGER ROAR – Bumped another runner at the start.

PUBLIC FORTUNE - Bumped another runner at the start.

IT’S A SNIP – Slow to begin.

MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice L. Tilley reported the gelding, which was having its first race start, raced greenly throughout and resented the kickback.

PEAK CROSSING – Overraced when being steadied from heels near the 800m. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer B. Waldron reported that the gelding raced wide throughout at its previous start, which was to its detriment. He explained that with an inside barrier he was confident of a forward showing in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.



Race 2: CHARLEVILLE TYRE SERVICE/CHARLEVILLE CONCRETE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1100m
1st – CONFIDENT STAR 2nd – STAR SYSTEM 3rd – PLATTERS 4th – LA CLOISONNE

MISS DELIMA – Knuckled at the start.

STAR SYSTEM – Bumped another runner at the start.

LA CLOISONNE - Bumped another runner at the start.

CONFIDENT STAR - Bumped another runner at the start.

EXSTRATUM - Bumped another runner at the start.

PLATTERS – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

LAST LAP – Raced wide throughout. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer S. Rodgers was advised he would need to provide a veterinary clearance for LAST LAP prior to the gelding racing again.


Race 3: FRANK CAVANOUGH MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1200m
1st – GOLD BONANZA 2nd – HIGHWAY CHILD 3rd – WASHER 4th – COUNTY GOLD

STONEYRISE – Slow to begin. Forced wider near the 800m by another runner.

AFFECTIONATE ONE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have injured its near fore tendon. Trainer J. Patterson advised Stewards that AFFECTIONATE ONE would now be retired. Mr Patterson was advised that should this not be the case, he would need to provide a veterinary clearance for AFFECTIONATE ONE prior to the gelding racing again.

DIAMONEEZE – Shifted out abruptly near the 800m, and raced wide from that point. Apprentice Q. Krogh reported the gelding hung out throughout the event. Representative for trainer T. Austin was advised the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

WASHER – Bumped GOLD BONANZA near the 250m. Made contact with HIGHWAY CHILD on multiple occasions over the concluding stages.


Race 4: BERNADETTE DOYLE ACCOUNTING/CHARLEVILLE PHARMACY BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1400m
1st – SUGAR DOLL 2nd – MURPHY’S COAL DUST 3rd – ZAHA COUNTY 4th – DOMINICO

ZAPATA FALLS – Slow to begin.

ZAHA COUNTY – Brushed the running rail near the 800m when overracing.

SUGAR DOLL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 5: BLUE HILLS THOROUGHBREDS CHARLEVILLE CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1620m
1st – LOUPPY BEND 2nd – BUTCHER BOY 3rd – SIALIA MAGIC 4th – BELLE EXPRESS

BARCELONA BOUND – Slow to begin.

MANFRED THE MAN – Blundered at the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey C. Dixon reported that, in his opinion, the gelding did not handle the weight of 63.5kg, and was not suited by the fast tempo of today’s event.

A DEPENDENT – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Apprentice Q. Krogh reported that, in his opinion, the gelding did not handle today’s slightly soft track condition.

BUTCHER BOY – Apprentice L. Tilley was fined $100 for using his whip in a forehand manner more the five times prior to the 100m. Apprentice Tilley was also fined $100 for using his whip in a manner that raised his arm above shoulder height.
