MISTREY EMPEROR- Shortly after leaving the mounting yard while in the care of the Clerk of the Course, the gelding propped and stopped dislodging harmlessly the Clerk of the Course which in turn also resulted in Appr Jky S Pointon being dislodged. As a result of this incident MISTREY EMPEROR ran off breaking through the outside running rail near the 1600m point. QAS examined Appr Jky Pointon and passed her fit to continue riding for the remainder of the program. The gelding was caught and then examined by the attending Veterinary Surgeon and as a result of some minor grazes to the near side rump area and the elbow, it was declared a late scratching at 4.00pm by Stewards acting on Veterinary advice. Race 5:WESTERN MEAT EXPORTERS COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/ CHARLEVILLE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1625M

DECIDUOUS- Raced wide for the majority. Approaching the 300m point Jky M Gray elected to shift in to a position outside of VOLDEMORT to obtain clear running and ran on well over the final stages of the event.

On returning to scale Jky M Gray advised he’s like to view the available Stewards footage from the 350m point. After reviewing the film Jky Gray the rider of DECIDUOUS advised that he would like to lodge an objection to VOLDEMORT Jky R Tilley being declared the winner alleging inference at the 350m point. After viewing the surveillance footage and hearing evidence from all parties including Trainers Mr L Baker and Mr R Connoly who were acting on behalf of the horse’s connections, Stewards considered a number of factors including the ½ length margin between the two runners, the location of the incident at the 350m point and the amount of interference which stewards believe to be minimal. Stewards also noted that Jky Tilley maintained his line on VOLDEMORT and if there was a shift, it was minimal and had no bearing on the overall result of the race. Stewards did note that Jky Gray had an opportunity to shift ground to the outside of Jky Tilley, yet he elected to go around him racing on his inside. At no time was VOLDEMORT headed by DECIDUOUS and in the opinion of Stewards the second placed horse would not have beaten VOLDEMORT with Jky Tilley easing the gelding down from the 50m point. Stewards therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers- 12- VOLDEMORT, 2- DECIDUOUS, 3- STAMPEDE WARRIOR and 4- LIP SIP SUK as semaphored by the Judge/s.

STAMPEDE WARRIOR- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority before improving into the event shortly after entering the home straight. Ran on well over the final stages.

LIP SIP SUK- Raced towards the rear of the event while wide for the majority of the event. Laid in while racing in the home straight. Ran on well over the concluding stages.

AMARANTZ- Slow to begin, raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.

VOLDEMORT- Raced at the rear of the field before improving into the race from the 500m point, ran on strongly over the final stages. Jky Tilley was reprimanded by Stewards acting under the provision of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line from approximately the 50m point. It was determined by Stewards that Jky Tilley’s actions had not altered the results of the race.
