GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights to apply due to no other rider being available to ride at the allocated weight- Race 5- DECIDUOUS- P Hamblin + 1.0kg and TURNSTAR P Randall +.5kg. The following horses were declared late scratching’s at 0830 hrs by order of Stewards due to no rider being available- Race 1- JIGADEE, Race 3- BEG ME, TIME TO TESTIFY.
 
Due to many of the riders at today’s meeting having to travel vast distances, The Race Club permitted Stewards to bring Races 4 and 5 forward with the amended times being Race 4- 3.30pm and Race 5- 4.00pm.
 
Race 1: GALLIPOLI CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M
 
SOLAR SURFER- Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse today, stewards ordered that a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken. This examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards sought a comment from rider P Hamblin. Jockey Hamblin advised the horse wasn’t suited by the kickback nor the racing conditions at today’s meeting. Stewards noted his comments.
 
SHERIFF’S STAR- Slow into stride, raced towards the rear for the majority of the event.
 
QUEEN ARNI- Began awkwardly. Weakened over the final stages of the event. On returning to scale Jockey T Banks reported his mount felt scratching in his action. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered by Stewards, this examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg, Trainer A Webb was advised that a Veterinary certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again.
 
ALL TOO SHEIK- Began awkwardly. Bumped with ELITE BLONDE shortly after the start.
 
ELITE BLONDE- Bumped with another runner shortly after the start was affected.
 
OAKFIELD MONTANA- Slow to begin.
 
PLEA- Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: KOKODA RATING BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1100M
 
TOUGH JUDGE- Laid out approaching the 700m resulting in the rider of BOULEVARD BOY having to take hold and the rider of DAZZINGTON and LADY DUTTON being inconvenienced. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the footage available stewards acting under the provision of AR131(a) issued a reprimand to Apprentice Jockey Ms C Krahnen for permitting her mount to shift out when not fully clear of BOULEVARD BOY, inconveniencing DAZZINGTON and LADY DUTTON.
 
BOULEVARD BOY- Bumped with another runner as the start was affected. Approaching the 700m was forced to take hold and ease losing ground when TOUGH JUDGE shifted out when not fully clear.
 
NYTHE- Laid in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
BOSS BANDIT- Approaching the 700m tended to lay out marginally tightening DAZZINGTON between it and LADY DUTTON.
 
PONTOON PRINCE- Began awkwardly when the gelding jumped in the air as the start was affected, then bumped with BOULEVARD BOY shortly after the start.
 
LADY DUTTON- Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m was inconvenienced when TOUGH JUDGE shifted out when not fully clear of BOULEVARD BOY which in turn shifted out.
 
DAZZINGTON- Approaching the 700m was dictated out by the runners to the inside and tightened marginally between runners when BOSS BANDIT rolled in marginally. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with a superficial laceration approximately 2 cms in area being present on the off hind pastern dorsal aspect area. No veterinary certificate was required.
 
Race 3: JIM PUGSLEY MEMORIAL QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M
 
EDWARDS- Bumped with HOWLER shortly after the start. Tended to lay in while racing in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
 
HERE I COME- Slow to begin.
 
IL TORO D’ORO- Slow to begin.
 
HOWLER- Began awkwardly when it bumped with EDWARDS shortly after the start was affected.
 
Race 4: VIETNAM VETERANS CLASS 3 PLATE- 1200M
 
HIGHLY TEMPTED- Bumped with KARAKAROO shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KARAKAROO- Bumped with HIGHLY TEMPTED shortly after the start was affected. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
DISCREET MISS- Failed to go the early speed
 
LUNAR EIGHT- Blundered at the start.
 
DUN WITH ROSES-Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.
 
PINS AND NEEDLES- Bumped with DUN WITH ROSES shortly after the start. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare. This examination failed to detect any abnormalities.
 
Race 5: DIGGERS OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed when on returning to scale Apprentice Jockey S Pointon advised Stewards that she wanted to lodge an objection to WITHOUT SHAME- (C Krahnen) being declared the 2nd placed horse ahead of her mount which unofficially finished in 3rd position, alleging interference inside the 100m. On hearing the evidence from all parties including Trainers Messers W Pugsley and G Bignell and viewing the official footage of the race stewards ascertained that inside the final 100m WITHOUT SHAME commenced to shift out momentarily hampering ROLL UP. After considering the evidence, including the degree of interference, and predominantly the margin between the two runners, Stewards could not been comfortably satisfied that should the interference not have occurred that ROLL UP would have finished in front of WITHOUT SHAME and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
ROLL UP- Blundered at the start becoming unbalanced. Apprentice Jockey S Pointon later reported to stewards that her saddled had slipped after the start. Stewards noted her comments. At approximately the 75m point the gelding laid out under pressure before being corrected by the rider.
 
MON PIERRE- Weakened shortly after entering the home straight.
 
DECIDUOUS- In consultation with Trainer Mr L Baker Stewards permitted Jockey P Hamblin to ride + 1.0 above the horse’s allotted weight due to no other rider being available. Mr L Baker acting on behalf of the connections was happy for the gelding to race at today’s meeting.
 
TURNSTAR- In consultation with Trainer Mr L Baker, Stewards permitted Jockey P Randall to ride +.5kg above the horse’s allotted weight. Mr L Baker who acted on behalf of the gelding’s connection was happy for the horse to race at today’s meeting.
 
WITHOUT SHAME- Leaving the 75m the gelding ducked in with the rider (C Krahnen) then overcorrected her mount it then stepped out towards ROLL UP. This resulted in that horse shifting out before being corrected by the rider, inconveniencing TOY STORY and VOLDEMORT.
 
VOLDEMORT- Slow to begin and then was tightened for room between TOY STORY and TURNSTAR after the start was affected. Was inconvenienced at approximately the 50-75 m point when the runners to the inside (ROLL UP and TOY STORY) were inconvenienced by WITHOUT SHAME when it shifted ground. On returning to scale Jockey R Tilley advised he had dropped his whip at approximately the 100m point which prevented him from riding his mount out fully to the line.
 
TOY STORY- Began awkwardly when jumping out. Was inconvenienced at approximately the 75 m point by another runner when it shifted out.
