GENERAL
Race 2- JIGADEE and SPANISH RAGE were declared late scratchings at 8.30am by order of Stewards due to no riders being available. Stewards permitted Jockey D Boutet to rider +.5kg in Races 2,4 and 5.
Race 1, Race 2 and Race 3 starting time was amended to 1.55pm, 2.30pm and 2.55pm respectively as a result of BOULIA when enroute to the barriers, taking fright and ran off going through the inside rail damaging approximately 150m of rail. Apprentice Jockey I Jessop was able to jump off prior to the incident and avoided injury. Club officials were able to have the rail repaired with the meeting proceeding.
RACE 1: NEVILLE GREEN MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
BOULIA- The horse was vetted which revealed superficial lacerations and skin abrasions to its legs; no lameness or swelling was evident. As a result of the pre-race incident BOULIA was declared a late scratching at 1.30pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards further ordered all monies invested on BOULIA be refunded in full less the following deductions to apply- W- SANS EGAL- 29c, Pl- 27c, 2nd Pl- WILLBEKING- 27c, 3rd Pl- CELTIC LIGHT- no third dividend. Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges. Trainer Mr. W Pugsley gave Stewards an undertaking that should the horse’s condition deteriorate in coming days he would notify the Chairman of today’s meeting. No Veterinary Certificate was required.
SAMURAI WAND- Failed to go the early speed and drifted back towards the rear of the field, then raced wide for the majority of the event. Drifted out wider after entering the home straight, laid in shortly after entering the home straight before being corrected by the rider.
CELTIC LIGHT- Raced wide for the majority. Bumped with PASSKEY just prior to the first turn at approximately the 600m point.
PASSKEY- Slow to begin, then when approaching the 600m bumped with CELTIC NIGHT.
SANS EGAL- Began awkwardly and then raced wide from the 400 for the remainder of the event.
RACE 2: NEXT RACE DAY 24TH OCT QTIS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1000M
BOSS BANDIT- Began awkwardly when it jumped in as the start was affected. Dictated out at the 600m while racing wide by ZOUPHISTICATE when that horse shifted out wider to improve.
TOUGH JUDGE- Tightened between runners shortly after the start.
DREYFUS- Began awkwardly when it reared as the gates opened. Bumped with PONTOON PRINCE approaching the 200m.
PLEA- Began awkwardly when it bumped the barrier gates on jumping.
PONTOON PRINCE- Tended to lay in during the early- mid stages of the event before being corrected by the rider. Bumped with another runner in the home straight.
ELITE BLONDE- Began awkwardly, jumping with its head in the air.
ZOUPHISTICATE- Began awkwardly. Shifted out from the 600m to improve dictating BOSS BANDIT out, forcing that runner to race wide from the 500m. ZOUPHISTICATE raced wide from the 500m for the remainder.
ROWDASH- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
SWEET ABOUT ME- Stewards issued a Reprimand under the provision of AR227(1) to Jockey D Boutet for his failure to comply with the Overweight Directive and further, that he failed to notify the three Trainers affected by him being +.5kg overweight.
RACE 3: CATTLE CAMP HOTEL CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M
HIGHLY TEMPTED- Began awkwardly and then jumped in the air and out as the start was affected. Had to ease off heels of KARAKAROO approaching the 1200m.
RANGI TOA- Began awkwardly and then tightened for room shortly after the start when HIGHLY TEMPTED jumped out. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
ABLE SEAMAN- Slow into stride, raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event, raced wide from the 400m for the remainder of the event, tended to lay in while racing in the home straight.
KARAKAROO- Laid in while racing in the home straight.
RICALLEN- Bumped with SNITZOND shortly after the start.
SNITZOND- Began awkwardly jumping in and then bumped with RICALLEN shortly after. Began to weaken badly from the 200m and then when approaching the winning post began to stagger with Apprentice Jockey I Jessop electing to harmlessly jump off the gelding, just prior to it collapsing adjacent to the entrance of the mounting yard. A post-race examination revealed the horse was deceased and had exhibited symptoms consistent with heart failure. Samples were taken by the attending veterinarian.
MALARINA- Laid in when under pressure in the home straight.
DUN WITH ROSES- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of the 4th placed horse RANGI TOA (Apprentice Jockey C Stuart) to view the photo image. After viewing the photo, Apprentice Stuart was satisfied with the placings with Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges.
RACE 4: JUNDAH CHARLEVILLE $1000 JOCKEY CHALLENGE WEEKEND OPEN HANDICAP 1625 M
Due to the incident in the previous race, Race 4 and 5 start times were amended to 3.45pm and 4.15pm respectively.
TURNSTAR- Began slowly after jumping with its head in the air. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
CARDIOLOGIST- Bumped with IL TORO D’ORO shortly after the start.
REGAL JUDGEMENT- Raced wide with cover middle stages.
IL TORO D’ORO- Bumped shortly after the start was affected by another runner. Raced wide for the majority.
IMEZAAKI- Slow to begin. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Began to race wide from the middle stages for the remainder of the event.
RACE 5:CHARLEVILLE CUP DAY 3RD NOV OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
MISTREY EMPEROR- Laid in during the early stages before being corrected by the rider.
MAGICAL SLIPPER- On returning to scale Jockey R Faehr reported his mount was disappointing and was not suited by the racing conditions today. Stewards noted his comments.
TRANSCELTIC- Bumped with VELOCE METEOR shortly after the start. Had to be restrained approaching the 800m and then raced wide from the 600m for the remainder of the event..
RUN RORY RUN- The attending veterinarian reported to Stewards the gelding had a mild laceration near the right hip where it had rubbed itself when in transit. A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken with the horse being passed fit to race at today’s meeting. Dipped at the start.
LOST MEDIA- Blundered at the start. Raced wide from the 800m for the remainder of the event.
VELOCE METEOR- Bumped with another runner as the start was affected. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
TOY STORY- Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
