Stewards approved the following weight variations:

Race 2: DANCING ALES – H Phillips – 55.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 5: HUSSON;S SHOUTY – S McGovern – 56kg (+1kg)

Race 1 – Maiden Plate 1030 METRES

DAUILAT ULI MAIORA – Shortly after the start when joining up to the course proper, shifted inside the line of the inside running rail and raced in restricted room for some distance near the 900 metres to the inside of SPILT BEANS and had to be restrained.

FRIDAY’S JET – Approaching the crossing near the 300 metres put in an awkward stride, shifted out abruptly and became very unbalanced in its action.  As a result, rider T Banks elected to ease the horse out of the event as he was concerned that FRIDAY’S JET may have sustained an injury in the incident.  ADELAIDE MOMENT, which was racing to the outside, was severely checked as a consequence.  A post-race veterinary examination of FRIDAY’S JET revealed no abnormalities.  Following the running of this event Stewards, and a delegation of senior riders, inspected a section of the racing surface near the 300 metres and found the track to be safe to continue racing.

ADELAIDE MOMENT- Severely checked near the 300 metres.

CRY NO MORE – Shifted out approaching the home-turn to obtain clear running resulting in LEADBURN NICCI being crowded for room and having to be steadied.  N Fazackerley, rider of CRY NO MORE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

GIRL CRUSH – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start.  Slow to begin.

LEADBURN NICCI – Crowded for room and steadied approaching the home-turn.

Race 2 – Benchmark 60 Hdcp 1030 METRES

MIRALIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  Held up for the length of the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested by its rider.

VICEMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

BLACK SEA – Shifted in abruptly at the start and checked ROOTS’N’ROCKS, which lost significant ground.  Bumped near the 250 metres.

SHOWER BEERS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Laid out rounding the home turn.

BLOODBLISTER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and near the 250 metres shifted out and bumped BLACK SEA.

LIVELY LASS – Slow to begin.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Following the event, Trainer S Sixtus reported the mare was showing signs of being in season.

ROOTS’N’ROCKS – Checked at the start and lost significant ground.

Race 3 – Benchmark 50 Hdcp 1200 METRES

VALAR DOHAERIS – Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.

GOLDEN SYMPHONEY – Slow to begin.

POINT THE WAGON – Jumped out at the start and bumped MISS CRUISEY.

BEGIN – Raced three-wide throughout.  Hung out rounding the home turn.

MOVING DAY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

HARAMAIN – When asked to comment on the performance, rider L Miller reported the horse travelled fairly throughout the event, however when placed under pressure from the 600 metres, was disappointing.  A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormalities.  Stable representative for trainer C Storch reported HARAMAIN is better suited to a sand track racing surface.

MISS CRUISEY – Bumped at the start.

Race 4 – Maiden Plate 1400 METRES

GRINZINGER HULK – Blundered on jumping away resulting in rider B Newwport becoming very unbalanced in the saddle and the horse settling at the rear of the field.

PALENTIFUL – Raced three-wide in the early stages.

SADDLE UP PRIDE – E MacPherson, rider of SADDLE UP PRIDE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.

Race 5 – Open Hdcp 1400 METRES

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, B Andrew, rider of second past the post ARTHUR IN CHARGE, and E MacPherson, rider of third past the post THE IRONS, both viewed the patrol footage over the final 100 metres.  After doing so, E MacPherson elected to take the matter no further, however B Andrew lodged a protest against first past the post AVOCA (App I Teh) alleging interference approaching the finish line.  After hearing submissions from all parties, and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that inside the final 50 metres AVOCA shifted out under pressure and bumped ARTHUR IN CHARGE, however bearing in mind the short-neck margin, and where the incident took place, the protest was dismissed, and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.  At a subsequent inquiry, I Teh, rider of AVOCA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount in this incident.

THE IRONS –  Approaching the 100 metres was disappointed for a run between ARTHUR IN CHARGE and AVOCA which shifted out under pressure. E MacPherson, rider of THE IRONS, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.

ARTHUR IN CHARGE – Bumped approaching the finish line.

AVOCA – Shifted out under pressure approaching the finish line.
