GENERAL
Due to predicted extreme weather conditions, this race meeting was conducted within the provisions of the QRIC Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy.
Race 1: WELCOME BACK TO THE RACES QTIS MDN PLT – 1000M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes when READY BETTY was fractious in the stalls and reared. READY BETTY was subsequently withdrawn at 1.38pm on by order of the stewards with the following deductions applicable;
8 cents in the dollar for all win bets #3 (FLASH HOMBRE)
9 cents in the dollar for all place bets #3 (FLASH HOMBRE)
11 cents in the dollar for all place bets # (MY FIXATION)
8 cents in the dollar for all place bets # (UNSURE)
Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that READY BETTY would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
DEMURRAL – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m, laid in under pressure and had to be steadied off the heels of SEEING DIAMONDS.
MOGALAKWENA – Jumped awkwardly.
RACE 2: COOVIN PASTORAL COMPANY BM45 HANDICAP – 1000M
ISIS JECTALE – Raced wide throughout.
SIXTY ONE TIGERS –Shifted in abruptly on jumping despite the efforts of its rider and had to be checked off the heels of ISIS JECTALE shortly after when continuing to race erratically. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey K Aho stated it was her intention to race closer to the speed however after suffering severe interference at the start, was forced to race in a rearward position.
KURIL FOX – Contacted on jumping with LOLLIPOP ROCKET.
TAKEN ON CHANCE – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey M Haley stated that after suffering interference shortly after jumping, his mount started to resent the dusty track conditions and failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
LOLLIPOP ROCKET –Contacted shortly after jumping by KURIL FOX and as a result, had to be checked off the heels of SIXTY ONE TIGERS which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
RACE 3: PURDIES TYRES / SMART STAYZZZ INNS BM55 HCP – 1200M
Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of 3rd placegetter, E Bell (FLINDERS DEAGON) to view the judges photo finish. After viewing the print, she was satisfied with the judges’ numbers and correct weight was declared.
SPRINGTHORPE – Bumped on jumping with HARRY ROCKET.
HARRY ROCKET – Bumped on jumping with SPRINGTHORPE.
RACE 4: CFMEU CLERMONT LODGE CLERMONT LIGHTNING OPEN HCP – 1200M
STONE WARRIOR (NZ) – Permission was granted for T Bannon to ride 1kg over when no other suitable rider was available. Slow to begin.
RACE 5: ELDERS CLERMONT CLASS B HCP – 1400M
CHEEKY CHOPS – Slow to begin.
