Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 2 – Jockey Emma Bell +1kg.
 
 
Race 1: CLERMONT CONCRETE Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
 
ARE YA THERE – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
MURMURS – Slow to begin. Shifted wider entering the home straight to obtain clear racing room. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
BETTY BOOM – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards under pressure over the final 200m.
 
SENSEI’S SURPRISE – Slow to begin and failed to muster any early speed. Lost touch with the remainder of the field from the 800m. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey C McIver stated that the filly failed maintain touch with the field in the early stages however had let down over the concluding stages when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative J Manzelmann was advised that SENSEI’S SURPRISE would be stood down pending a trial to the satisfaction of stewards due to being uncompetitive.
 
SOUTHWIND LIDIA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
TRICKETT’S JEWEL – Commenced to lay inwards from the 600m.
 
 
 
Race 2: CLERMONT RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1000 METRES)
 
UPSTART LEGEND – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MOORABINDA MICK – Slow to muster early speed.
 
TOKYO SINS – Began very awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted inwards under pressure over the final 100m. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer R Little stated that the drop in class today combined with the good barrier draw proved beneficial to the mares chances.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Carried inwards on jumping by HEAVENLY LEGEND and bumped with MAKE IT SO. Raced wide throughout.
 
HEAVENLY LEGEND – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards carrying FLYING RUPERT inwards bumping MAKE IT SO.
 
SUPERSTITIOUS – Began awkwardly bumping MISS MONEYPENNY. Laid outwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAKE IT SO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after not competing for an extended period and was cleared to start. Bumped and hampered on jumping by FLYING RUPERT which was carried inwards by HEAVENLY LEGEND. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey W Satherley stated that the mare may not have handled racing on the dirt surface, he further added that MAKE IT SO was first up from a spell and would derive significant fitness benefit from the run.
 
GREYLIST – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight having to be corrected by its rider on a number of occasions.
 
MISS MONEYPENNY – Bumped by SUPERSTITIOUS on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: CLERMONT RACE CLUB QTIS Class 2 Plate (1200 METRES)
 
WHATTA WHITT – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards when under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C Jokic was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) in that she had failed to ride her mount out fully to the finish. In determining penalty stewards were mindful that Ms Jokic’s actions had no bearing on the finishing position of her mount and her clear record for an extended period of time.
 
BLUE ROMAN – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Hung inwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
MARAVILLAS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards upon entering the home turn near the 900m.
 
NOTFORTHEMONEY – Shifted inwards on jumping hampering TIPSY TIGER. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards over the final 200m. Jockey M Gray was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he had failed to ride his mount out fully to the finish. In determining penalty stewards were mindful that Mr Gray’s actions had no bearing on the finishing position of his mount and his clear record for an extended period of time.
 
TIPSY TIGER – Hampered on jumping when NOTFORTHEMONEY shifted inwards and slow into stride as a result. Jockey E Bell reported that the mare, after getting further back than anticipated, may have resented the kickback in the early stages.
 
 
 
Race 4: CHARLIE FLOHR MEMORIAL CLERMONT CUP OPEN Handicap (1400 METRES)
 
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing within the previous 7 days and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

FINE SHOT – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping and hampering NEW LEVEL (NZ) for some distance. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight.
 
TAVANASIA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer B Trimble was advised that a warning would be placed on TAVANASIA (NZ) record due to being uncompetitive.

THE DRILLER – Began awkwardly.
 
HEYINGTON STATION – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing within the previous 7 days and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the middle stages after obtaining a position with cover. Laid inwards when under pressure over the final 100m. Stewards questioned jockey R Silvera Olivera and trainer D Rewald regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages in particular obtaining a position closer to the speed in comparison to the gelding’s most recent starts. It was explained that no instructions were given to jockey Olivera other than to see how HEYINGTON STATION began and make an assessment in running. Jockey Olivera explained that the gelding began well today from an inside barrier comparing to its most recent starts and as a result he elected to progress forward to remain out of the kickback. After considering the explanation stewards were satisfied that the tactics adopted in the circumstances were not totally unreasonable. Nonetheless, trainer D Rewald was reminded of his obligations to report to stewards any change of tactics by the prescribed time should they occur.
 
NEW LEVEL (NZ) – Bumped and hampered for some distance by FINE SHOT which shifted inwards at the start and slow into stride as a result. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide during the middle stages. Laid inwards when under pressure over the final 100m.

OUR MISSILE – Began awkwardly. Laid outwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZIPITALIST – Began awkwardly.
 
CALL OUT – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
 
Race 5: CLERMONT RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1400 METRES)
 
DESERT STAR – Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing within the previous 7 days and was cleared to start. Shifted outwards when under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
YOROKOBI (NZ) – Began awkwardly bumping MAYOR OF KINGSTON.

FINAL COMMENT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing within the previous 7 days and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAYOR OF KINGSTON – Began awkwardly and bumped with YOROKOBI (NZ). Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. When questioned in relation to performance trainers representative J Manzelmann stated that the gelding has been racing over further distances in recent starts and may not have appreciated the step down in distance today, he further added that MAYOR OF KINGSTON had not raced on a dirt track prior to today which may have proved detrimental to the overall performance.  
 
ARMSTRONG BAY - Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing within the previous 7 days and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
HUTT STREET – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer G Bell stated that in her opinion the addition of a senior rider in todays start proved beneficial, she further added that the gelding has reached desired fitness levels with recent racing.
 
GIGI FILLE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
