GENERAL
1. The following runners were scratched from their respective engagements due to no rider being available.
DANCE WIZARD; LUCY LULU; CURRY LEGEND; LEUCAENA; OUTCAST SOLDIER; HOLLERLOUD; AFFIRMATIVE LIGHT; CLIODHNA MAEVE (NZ); REVVED UP READY
RACE 1: BLACKPOLY PIPELINES BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP
GETTY – crowded and had to be restrained approaching the turn near the 800 metres when inside MAKEMINEMILO, which laid in and away from the improving ELIE JOE. Given all the circumstances, Stewards determined that no further action was required other than to remind all riders of their obligation to ride to the prevailing conditions and to ensure they provide sufficient racing room to all runners at all times.
MAKEMINEMILO – laid approaching the first turn and was then placed in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of ELIO JOE which was improving forward.
WHOLELOTTALOVE – laid in and contacted the rail for a short distance entering the turn near the 800 metres.
BLANC DE NOIR – slow in the early stages; travelled wide for the majority.
RACE 2: DISCOVERY PARKS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP
CROWN REACH – laid in and away from the improving MAKANUI near the 950 metres and was briefly steadied.
MAKANUI – was presented at the inspection area with the incorrect saddlecloth; given her previously good record, trainer Ms. Shyn Royes was fined $100.00 under AR106(1); bounded on jumping away.
MIA TORETTO – began awkwardly and slow away; had to be restrained near the 1,000 metres when awkwardly near the heels of VONK, and in consequence lost ground. After questioning rider David Sparks (MIA TORETTO) and Apprentice Jason Miller (VONK) it was established that after missing the start rider Sparks has then ridden MIA TORRETTO with vigour in an attempt to recover the ground lost, however had been compelled to restrain his mount after VONK which had crossed to the lead had momentarily steadied the tempo. Apprentice Miller, with the assistance of Senior rider Matthew Gray, was shown vision of the incident and advised that when crossing he must ensure that his tempo is maintained; made its finishing run wide on the track.
RACE 3:EXPLORE PROPERTY MUNRO & CO QTIS CLASS B
WEIRD GOODBYES – inclined to race greenly throughout; hung in and made the first turn near the 1,000 metres awkwardly, inconveniencing INSTIGATE; raced in restricted room in the early part of the final straight; rider David Sparks reported that the gelding had been reluctant to improve into a run which eventuated near the 200 metres and had taken some time to gain its finishing momentum.
BUZ FUZ – travelled wide without cover throughout.
INSTIGATE – inconvenienced near the 1,000 metres.
KADIATCHA MAN – commenced to buck after travelling 200 metres and lost all chance. Trainer Ms. Shyn Royes was advised that KADIATCHA MAN must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing.
RACE 4: EVOLUTION MINING MARY & SPARROW HARRISON
RISE OF THE MASSES – began awkwardly; outpaced in the early and middle stages.
MEDIA EMPIRE – crowded racing into the first turn when inside I AM A MARVEL which laid in marginally.
HANG FIVE – hung out and lost ground near the 800 metres.
ALLEZIZZY – slow in the early stages; travelled wide throughout.
