RACE 1: Airfirst QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - REGAL ROTH 2nd - SAGA'S PRINCESS 3rd - LILLY KAREENA 4th - BOTTEGA LOUIE
SAGA'S PRINCESS - Began awkwardly.
DECLAN STYLE - Slow to begin, then raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event. Shortly after straightening for home shifted in under pressure and hampered PUB THUG.
PUB THUG - Hampered by another runner shortly after straightening.
REGAL ROTH - Shortly after straightening for home shifted out in search of clear running and hampered LILLY KAREENA.
LILLY KAREENA - Hampered shortly after straightening.
MISHANI REDMAN - Passing the 200 metres was momentarily held up on heels.
Apprentice M. Kai pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that rounding the first turn, near the 1000 metres, he allowed DECLAN STYLE to shift in when insufficiently clear of SAGA'S PRINCESS, which clipped the heels of DECLAN STYLE and blundered. App. Kai was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 4 meetings, to commence at midnight tonight, 12th July 2015, up to and including midnight on 18th July 2015. Stewards took into account App. Kai's good riding record.
RACE 2: Cairns Taxis Maiden Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - MAKING HEADLINES 2nd - PURRFECT TYCOON 3rd - HUSSENRUN 4th - RED SHAWL
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable connections of the second placegetter to view the photofinish. Having done so they were satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was declared.
DON'T TELL SCOTTY - Slow to begin. Carried wider rounding the first turn, near the 1000 metres.
HELOW TUCKER - Began awkwardly. Rounding the first turn, near the 1000 metres, hung out, became awkwardly placed on heels and had to be severely checked. Passing the 200 metres shifted in under pressure and carried MONASHEE LASS in onto SALMON ROE, which was buffeted and carried in onto CIDARIS, contributing to that runner being checked. Jockey M. Abe, rider of HELOW TUCKER, was reprimanded and advised that he should have stopped riding and straightened sooner than he did on this occasions.
FRENCHENKA - Slow to begin, made the first turn, near the 1000 metres, awkwardly then over-raced for a short distance.
PURRFECT TYCOON - Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight and had to be shifted to the outside to improve.
Apprentice M. Haley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) , in that passing the 200 metres he allowed HUSSENRUN to shift out when insufficiently clear of CIDARIS (App. B. Swaffer), which had to be severely checked and lost its rightful running. App. Haley was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 1 NQ meeting, to commence at midnight tonight, 12th July 2015, up to and including midnight on Saturday 18th July 2015. In assessing penalty stewards took into account as a contributing factor the racing manners of horses to App. Haley's outside and also his exemplary record in regard to the rules.
RACE 3: Underwood Party Hire BenchMark 60 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - LOVER OF LIFE 2nd - ROCHALLOR 3rd - ISADOR AMORE 4th - EFFIGY BELLE
NORTHERN THEATRE - Trainer Mr R. Nelson was fined $100 for the late declaration of blinkers in the mare's approved gear.
ARMY OF ONE - Slow to begin.
ROSE OF CLARE - Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had swelling in the off hind leg.
RIKKI DYNAMO - Passing the 500 metres hung out and carried PERFECT RAINBOW and DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE wider on the track. Trainer Ms L. Ashford was told that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.
PERFECT RAINBOW - Carried wider passing the 500 metres.
DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE - Carried wider passing the 500 metres.
EFFIGY BELLE- Leaving the 500 metres was inclined to race ungenerously. After shifting in towards the running rail ducked out abruptly, and shortly after straightening again shifted out abruptly, despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer Mr T. Rowe said it was his intention to experiment with gear prior to the filly's next race start. He was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly.
When questioned regarding his riding of DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE, Jockey S. Kaya explained that it was his intention to be in a forward position, however after beginning awkwardly his mount was unable to muster sufficient speed and for that reason he elected to race in a rearward position with cover. Jockey Kaya said that shortly after straightening he attempted to shift out in search of clear running, however was disappointed for that run and as a reslt had to be shifted to the inside, where he was again held up over the concluding stages and could not be fully tested. The explanations were noted.
RACE 4: Louie's Liquor Barn BenchMark 60 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - ROYAL PHYSICIAN 2nd - SIGNIFICANT CHOICE 3rd - POPULAR BELIEF 4th - BANCHORY LASS
GIVE ME TIME - Slow to begin. Hampered near the 100 metres.
BAZZA'S BID - Slow to begin, then made the turn near the 600 metres awkwardly.
SANDBAR JACK - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
POPULAR BELIEF - Passing the 100 metres shifted in away from another runner and hampered GIVE ME TIME.
RACE 5: Magic Millions/FNQ Up & Coming Stayers BenchMark 70 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - HERE TO DASH 2nd - KNOWING ME 3rd - BLANCHARD BLOOM 4th - LIVINGSTON
BLANCHARD BLOOM - Slow to begin, then was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
KNOWING ME - Rounding the turn near the 1400 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
HERE TO DASH - On returning to scale App. Kai reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event.
RACE 6: Ochre Restaurant & Catering Open Handicap - 1600 metres
1st - SEAFIGHT 2nd - ALDRAN 3rd - LIL' RED MONKEY 4th - MASTER AVATAR
KAMARAH - Late scratching at 11.39 a.m. on veterinary advice. Trainer T. Rowe was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
RATTUS CONNATUS - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
BEG PARDON - Rounding the first turn, near the 900 metres, had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
MASTER AVATAR - Passing the 200 metres had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between runners.
SEAFIGHT - On returning to scale Jockey P. Cullen reported that his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 7: PROGIG BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1500 , metres
1st - GODDESS OF LUCK 2nd - MAL'S PRIDE 3rd - GLADIUS 4th - MONTANA MAN
KING OF THEBES - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground (6 lengths). Trainer S. Hoffman was advised that she must provide a further barrier certificate prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
GODDESS OF LUCK - Slow to begin.
ASSERTIVE LOVE - Raced wide throughout.
EXCELLENT STYLE - After being crossed in the early stages over-raced and refused to settle.
MANZANITA - Shortly after straightening attempted to improve into a run where there was insufficient room and had to be checked and made contact with the running rail. Apprentice M Kai was told to ensure there is sufficient room when attempting to obtain a run.
Jockey F. Edwards pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that over the concluding stages he allowed GLADIUS to shift in when not clear of ASSERTIVE LOVE (P. Cullen) which was taken across the running of SECRET STEALTH , which clipped the heels of ASSERTIVE LOVE and blundered, and further that he continued to allow his mount to shift in further, crowding the running of ASSERTIVE LOVE. Jockey Edwards was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 3 meetings, to commence from midnight on 12th July 2015, up to and including 25th July 2015.
RACE 8: Louie's Liquor Barn Open Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - CHEVAL ARGENTE 2nd - COMIC RULER 3rd - BALUSTRADE 4th - MR HONOR
SECRET STEALTH - Began awkwardly.
HORACIO - Passing the 500 metres collided with the running rail and became unbalanced.
THE BEST - Raced wide throughout.
