Race 5: The Reef Hotel Casino Governor's Trophy BenchMark70 Handicap - 1600 metres

REVEL IN THE CHAOS - Trainer Mr S. Royes reported that the gelding had pulled up well following its disappointing performance. He said that it was now his intention to drop the gelding back in grade and target a race at Mount Isa.

GENERAL:

Stewards conducted inspections of all stables on-course, and those located at the Cairns Showground, with runners engaged in today's meeting. No breaches of the rules were detected.

RACE 1: Tattersalls QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - CRAIGLEA WANDOO 2nd - REGAL ROTH 3rd - VALLEY ROSE 4th - TURN UP THE VOLUME

PURE CHANCE - Slow to begin. Rounding the turn near the 400 metres was reluctant to hold its position when racing tight to the inside of another runner.

ROCKETTE ROCKET - Began awkwardly and lost ground.

CRAIGLEA WANDOO - Shortly after straightening for home shifted in under pressure and brushed another runner.

RYLEE'S SAGA - Brushed by another runner shortly after straightening.

NIC'S DRAGON - Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACE 2: Patrons Cup Sponsored by Keith & Yvonne Delacy C,G&E Class 2 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - MAN AROUND TOWN 2nd - RICH 'N' FAMOUS 3rd - GUEPARDO 4th - CHOI OI

JUMBO RUMBO - After arriving at the barriers was found to have blood in its mouth. The gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

MAN AROUND TOWN - Slow to begin.

CHOI OI - Began awkwardly.

DUKE CELESTE - Shifted in abruptly at the start.

OOSTHUIZEN - Crowded for room at the start, then made the turn at the 500 metres awkwardly.

GUEPARDO - Rounding the turn near the 500 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of another runner, which shifted in when not quite clear.

RACE 3: Bart Cummings Memorial Amateur Bracelet Class 3 Plate - 1250 metres
1st - ZINDZELA 2nd - PIT BOSS 3rd - HYDRIVE 4th - FOUR JAYS

BANCHORY LASS - Slow to begin then made the turn near the 900 metres awkwardly.

ZINDZELA - Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

HYDRIVE - At the start made contact with another runner. Made the first turn awkwardly. Approaching the 100 metres Jockey N. Callow momentarily lost the use of his whip.

EFFIGY BELLE - Contacted by another runner at the start. Made the turn at the 1000 metres ungenerously and became awkwardly placed on heels.

RISE TO THE TOP - Passing the 900 metres was momentarily hampered.

GOLDEN METEOR - When questioned regarding the poor performance Jockey A. Best said that the gelding travelled comfortably in a prominent position throughout, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing.

MOUNTAIN VIEW (NZ) - Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACE 4: The Cairns Post BenchMark75 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - RADIANT ANGEL 2nd - MIATA 3rd - TESTATIME 4th - MIN MIN MAN

METEOROS - Slow to begin.

STRATO MOSTRO - Slow to begin.

ROBBERS ROOST (NZ) - Began awkwardly, then took charge of its rider, Jockey S. Wiseman, and raced wide rounding the first turn, near the 1000 metres. Trainer J. Parsons was told that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing record.

TESTATIME - Rounding the first turn was carried out by another runner and had to be checked when awkwardly placed on heels.

RHYTHM 'N' RAP - Carried wider rounding the turn near the 900 metres and thereafter was obliged to race without cover.

ARCATRAN - Passing the 200 metres Jockey D. Green accidentally dropped his whip.

RACE 5: - Century Cranes Class 1 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st - ROSE IN BLOOM 2nd - MANDALONG PASS 3rd - ROCKET BILLY REBEL 4th - ONEEYED UNDERTAKER

BONNIE BON BON - Slow to begin.

HOW ABOUT ME - Slow to begin.

KANA AKA - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which weakened from the 600 metres and tailed out, did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S. Cooper said that the gelding will be retired immediately. Notwithstanding this advice, he was told that if the horse was to resume racing, it must perform competitively in a trial.

ADIZERO - Held up for clear running on the heels of a weakening runner rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 200 metres MR WRECKER (Jockey S. Wiseman) broke down badly in the near fore fetlock. PROUD WARRIOR (Jockey D.Green), which was following, ran onto the heels of that runner, almost fell and dislodged its rider. Jockey Green was transported to Cairns Hospital for observation. BONNIE BON BON (J. Mallyon), ADIZERO (J. Morris) and ADAPTED (A. Best), which were following, were all severely hampered as a consequence. MR WRECKER was euthanised on humane grounds. A swab sample was taken post mortem. An inquiry into the incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

ROSE IN BLOOM - When questioned in regard to the imrpoved performance trainer Mr R Kirkwood explained that in its most recent start the mare did not handle the firm track conditions. He also attributed the improved performance to the step up in distance.

RACE 6: Carlton Mid Amateur Cup Open Handicap - 2100 metres
1st - RICHIE ROCKET 2nd - KNOWING ME 3rd - SAN RAYMOND 4th - KAMARAH

The start was delayed to await the arrival of a second Ambulance.

BO ROSSA - Began awkwardly with its head up.

KNOWING ME (NZ) - Got its head up when being restrained shortly after the start.

KAMARAH - Buffeted between runners at the start.

ALDREN - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SECRET STEALTH - Slow to begin, then approaching the winning post on the first occasion took charge of its rider, ran very wide on the track, refused to settle and was allowed to stride forward and assume the lead. Trainer T. Rowe was told that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in a trial prior to being permitted to race again.

GODDESS OF LUCK - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

JUNEE BOY (NZ) - Held up on the heels of a weakening runner rounding the home turn.

KNOWING ME (NZ) - Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

MAY NELLY (NZ) - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

FIELDS OF TUSCANY - Pulled hard when the pace was slow for some distance in the middle stages. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 100 metres.

Race 7: Keystart by David McCoy Homes Open Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - MISHANI GLADIATOR 2nd - CHATEAU DETTORI 3rd - GREEN ANCHOR 4th - ADDICTION TO ROCK

Following the running of Race 6 Jockey N. Callow was examined by the Ambulance Officers and found to be suffering from dehydration. Jockey Callow was stood down from his further engagement.

RATTUS CONATUS - Slow to begin.

CHATEAU DETTORI - Slow to begin.

ADDICTION TO ROCK - Slow to begin.

Jockey K. Stone pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that shortly after straightening he allowed LEXCEN to shift in whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of BLAME GAME, which had to be severely checked and lost it's rightful running. Jockey Stone's licence to ride in races was suspended immediately, to expire at midnight on Friday 25th September 2015.

KING MAGNUSSON - For a short distance over the concluding stages the gelding attempted to savage a runner to its outside. Trainer S. Massingham said that he will now experiment with a gear change for the gelding. However, he was told that KING MAGNUSSON would have to trial before it races again and that if the horse performs similarly in future, stewards would consider refusing its nomination for future events.

Race 8: Irelands Jeep Sir Sydney Williams OBE Class 4 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - NEVETUS 2nd - STRICTLY MAGIC 3rd - MAURIZIO 4th - IN HIS ELEMENT

NEVETUS - When Jockey N. Callow was dehydrated and stood down from his engagement, Jockey S. Wilson was substituted.

VIA CON DIOS - Declared a late scratching, at 4.03 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the mare had swelling in the off fore fetlock. Trainer A Cameron was told that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to VIA CON DIOS being permitted to race again.

VEE FORCE - Slow to begin.

MAURIZIO - Rounding the turn near the 500 metres laid in and made contact with another runner.

IN HIS ELEMENT - Passing the 500 metres was bumped by another runner.

SHE'S ALL OURS - Raced wide without cover throughout.

NEVETUS - Jockey S. Wilson, rider of the eventual winner, was reprimanded for using his whip excessively in a backhand manner.
