Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why Apprentice E. Cass failed to arrive on course to fulfil her engagements at today's meeting. Substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
RACE 1: CCW Cabinet Works Maiden Handicap -   1250 metres
 
TYPHOON PARADISE  - Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
RATHDOWNEY AVENUE - Shifted wider when over-racing rounding the 800m turn. Raced wide for the remainder of the race.
 
POISE 'n' STYLE - Raced 3 wide without cover in the early and midle stages.
 
COCCO LUCIA - Raced wide for the majority of the event.  When questioned,Jockey G. Watson that in opinion the gelding raced disappointingly and failed to respond to his urgings over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
NEGRONI - Hampered passing the 200m and soon after was disappointed for a run and had to be shifted inwards to improve.
ROGUE ALLEY – Raced wide fir the majority of the race. Bled during running. Trainer F. Wieland was advised that, as this was the second time the mare had bled, it will be be ineligibe to start in any race, under the provisions of A.R.53A.  
 
RACE 2: FNQ Beverages QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 950 metres
 
BIT BY BIT - Due to a misunderstanding Jockey S. Kaya replaced Jockey P. Cullen as rider of the filly. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by connections.
 
WATCH ME DAZZLE - The start of this race was delayed when the gelding broke through the barriers and galloped for a considerable distance. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered the withdarwal of the gelding at 2.06 p.m. They further ordered: that all bets made on WATCH ME DAZZLE be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
 
            1¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner, LADY OF DARKNESS
            3¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, LADY OF DARKNESS
            2¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, MASON'S CHANCE
            3¢in the dollar for the place for 3rd, CENTRE RED.
 
Trainer L. Ashford was advised that she obtain a futrther barrier certificate for the horse prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
FIDEREUS – Slow to begin.
 
LADY OF DARKNESS – Slow to begin.
 
CENTRE RED – Slow to begin.
 
FLYING DUBAI - Slow to begin,shifted out near the 600m and  inconvenienced another runner, then raced wide for the remainder of of the race.
 
 LOVE RED - Raced wide for the majority of the race, was inconvenienced  by another runner near the 650m.
 
BRACING – Raced wide for the majority of the race and made the 800m crossing awkwardly. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
RACE 3:  Mercedes Gonzalez Travel Class 3 Plate - 950 metres
 
OUR RECIPE - Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
WE FOUND IT - Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
EGIPTIENNE - Reared as the barriers opened and lost considerable ground.. Trainer S. Potiris was advised that a further barrier certificate will be reqired before the gelding is permitted to race again.
 
WHO'S A STAR - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Was inclined to race ungenerously near the 600m when placed in restricted room.
 
SECRETS OWN - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GOLDEN BANK - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 4: Norweld Engineering Class 6 Plate -1250 metres
 
MADEMOISELLE ZARIZ – Made contact with the running rail enrout to the barriers, was vetted and cleared to start.
 
CHAMAREL - Slow to begin.
 
ROYAL SUPREME - Slow into stride. Over-raced when placed in restricted room near the 800m and shifted wider.
 
HITCH 'EM UP - Inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
LOCEANO - Raced wide in early and middle stages.
 
GLOBAL GURU - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 5: Plaster Metal Cladding BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1250 metres
 
LINE BREAKER – Slow to begin.
 
OUR KAPOW – Slow to begin after beginning awkwardly.
 
PURRFECT TYCOON – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. When questioned into the improved performance as to its recent form trainer S. Cooper stated that he had made signifigent gear changes leading into todays event and believed this to be major contibuting factor to todays performance.
 
BIG TOMEE - Unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight. Was further inconvenienced by another runner, which laid in approaching the winning post.
 
HE'S A VELLA - Inclined to lay in approaching the winning post and inconvenienced another runner.
 
MAN OF BUSINESS - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CASINO ESCAPEE - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
RACE 6:  Halpin Partners Accountants Open Handicap - 1400 metres
 
JUMBO RUMBO - Prior to the running of the event trainer Mr S. Cooper advised stewards that it was the intention, if possible, to settle the horse just off the pace, however, in the early stages rider M. Kai was unable to restrain the gelding, which raced outside the leader in the early stages. Whilst this was broadcasted via public address, Mr Cooper was reminded of his obligation to advise any change of tactics at an ealier time frame.   
 
CLEANSING ALE – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
GREAT PRETENDER - Slow to begin. Rider J. Lambie was reprimanded under A.R. 137A in that he used his whip on the gelding on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his good record in regard to the rule.
 
MUKADDAMAH SON - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
PHANTOM SOX  - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ELEMENT OF CHANCE - Lost its nearside front plate in running.
 
RACE 7: Cairns Platinum Realty MM/FNQ U&C Stayers BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1900 metres
 
GAINSFORD - Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
FOOLPROOF - Bumped by another runner, which shifted in near the 1800m.
 
RAMSDEN STREET - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CUT 'N' POLISH - Bumped with another runner when shifting near the 1800m.
 
Stewards inqured into an incident that occurred passing the winning post on the first occasion, in which SHORT TERM (W. D'Avila) had to be checked. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing evidence from the parties involved, Stewards established that CUT 'N' POLISH (App. A. Thomson) shifted in abruptly and then comenced to shift in and away from CHANGING NOTES (A. Coome), which also inclined to lay in at that point of the race. As stewards were unable to establish that any one rider was culpable of careless riding, no further action was taken, other than to advise Apprentice Thomson to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SHORT TERM – Checked passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
CHANGING NOTES – Laid in passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
 
OH YEAH – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
